Good talking with you buddy. You're going to love that sound deadening

Johnny, did you ever get the mat to stick to the lizard skin or whatever you applied to Moonshine?

Goss isn't that loud IMO.. just wondering...

I figure 100mil thickness and the 1/2" jute pad will really quiet Goss down.

Never did get it to stick, but never really tried after the first time either.

P, I had about 70ish ft in Marley IIRC. I never did the doors though because of the padding I put in the door panels I built.

I think a 100 sq ft kit would serve your purpose. I plan on doubling the mat from the firewall to about mid front seat on Goss. Then a single layer the remaining floor back. This is 50mil material. I think CruiserCrap is 70mil..

Thanks a bunch for the info, J! Once i get started on this, 2000UZJ will have no more reasons to complain about riding in the 62

if you ever need a fuel tank I have a good one here from a 62. I also have a frame in stellar condition I want to get rid of at some point. Not much else but I have a few 60 parts around.

I always wondered why the P/O made the leaf/shackle hangers so long on this truck. it is a really big tall truck and still SuA. I never really did get why he made his own hangers and made them so long. I also do not get his exhaust set up. First time I have seen it exit the hood and blow back on the top of a truck. Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread but I hope you are changing that exhaust.

BTW, a buddy and myself (he has a 100) go wheeling fairly often in Western Wyoming and Eastern Idaho. I invited "Wyoming" ot come before but he never did. You are welcome to come anytime! We hit up the Greys once in awhile, some places down the Bounderant way, hit the dunes at Saint Anthony, explore up the Salmon Idaho way (some sweet spots up there I am not mentioning in public) and do as much exploring as we can. We are going to run the Morrison Jeep Trail some time later this summer. Like I say you are welcome to come!

Cheers

R, is the frame a 60/62? very interested if so. I'll rathole it for my tan 60. PM me on a price.

The modified SUA is interesting for sure. I will end up going SOA in the future if I am too unhappy with it. MANY PROJECTS FOR THIS RIG...

Yes, if my work schedule works I'd be interested in some exploring. I have access to approx. 60,000+/- acres on the Budd Ranch around Big Piney. I might be able to get us a hook up for some virgin trail making... see approx map area.... Nice fishing up on a few creeks there.. big browns and a few good kokanee salmon that feed into Fontenelle and then to the Green...

PM me your contact info.. and lets stay in touch

Yes any private or BLM leased land on that entire map I have access too...

Wow that is cool! I would love to make it down your way for a weekend. I am sure my buddy is up for it too. I have a client in Daniel so am down that way a few times a year. Always wanted to explore south and west of Daniel. I found a 67 Nissan Patrol in Big Piney a few summers ago.

The frame is from an 88 62. It is in extremely good condition, but it is missing the leaf hangers. Not a big deal if you can weld new ones on.

I will pm you my contact details.

Cheers!

When you guys lay down the sound deadening try using a tennis ball to get it pressed down, it does a surprisingly good job and wont tear the foil like a square edged roller will. (like the one that comes with QuietCrap) Be sure to pop any bubbles with a knife to make sure it doesn't start peeling up from them.

When I did my truck, it made a very noticeable difference in interior sound. The thicker jute your adding should take it one step further.

Looking forward to seeing this build progress!

I, the family is hit or miss on letting me out there. It's a coin toss depending on their mood. But, I will for sure ask for a a small group of us to play for a weekend.. It may cost us some fence fabrication time.. I've built about a mile of pipe fence and gates galore there..

Thanks Darrell, the tennis ball is a great idea, I'll try that. The roller that comes with these kits are cheesy at best. It kept popping off when I installed it on Marley.

Got home to open the Viper Elite 12000# winch. My neighbor in TX had one of these on his Tundra and it was strong as HELL... The FJC forum has some great reviews as well on this winch.

12000# winch, Amsteel Blue (black) 3/8' x 95' synthetic rope, cover, wireless and corded remote, snatch block, aluminum hawse fairlead and free shipping for $575.00.. Hell YEAH I'll try it out.. :grinpimp:

Also finalized my order with Georg on a few other items...

Complete package weighed 77#s per the scales. Considerably less than my old 10000# Superwinch at 94#s..

That's a damn good deal...hopefully they hold up to dragging our container ships around as well as those little trucks :)

His tundra weighed in at 5800#s rigged out he said... SO, it'll be close.. I figure Goss will come in loaded out above 6000#s with my big butt in there.. ;)

J that winch looks great. Where did you find it for that price?

...via IH8MUD app

Oaks, eBay.. it was 629.00 or make an offer. I offered 600.00, it was accepted for the winch with a red rope... They then replied back that it would be backordered... after a few emails I accepted a 25.00 inconvenience refund and got the black rope since it was in stock.

I'm kinda glad I didn't get the red rope... I read that they turn pink due to sun fading.

J

Nice score. I love the make offer option on ebay. Yeah that Amsteel is great but It does not like to hold color. I have blue and purple, they have both faded...or released the color. In case you care :)

Oaks, I still appreciate ebay from time to time.. I figured if the black rope turned grey or white I'd be ok with that.. But pink... no thanks..

Sweet winch bro! Let us know how it does! I just ordered an amsteel blue line from southeast overland and it wasn't cheap! I like the sealed housing similar jcardona's runva too. I love seeing you stockpile! ;)
Fyi, I'm perfecting my tap pouring skills for when you make it out here!
Also, Moab dates have been set for 6/10-6/16 :grinpimp: :steer:

I will let ya know on the winch. I have no idea on Moab at this point... going off of my schedule now.. I won't make it. If I drag up and start the shop.. I'm in.. stay in touch with me.

Got a new fuel cap. Bent ear back on filler neck and viola.. Seems to seal tight. Time will tell now.

Also, cleaned up a little in the shop and dug out some items I was going to use on my last build and never got around to it.

Solar panels, 10 and 20 amp charge unit, 3-110AH batteries and an INNO retractable awning, it stores at approx 4' wide and opens up approx 10' x 13'. Hopefully I will put these items to use this go around. (solar equipment will probably go on trailer build if I ever get around to it.)

The end extensions on your awning are a nice feature I've not seen before! The few times a bunch of us have slid under mine in rainstorms you always have to sit inside about a foot perimeter or wear Goretex ;)
