MN, yes the vinyl is for the door and cargo panels. I plan on mocking the 2010 FJC TT panels. Black on top red upper section and the black bottom. I might try to incorporate in a strip of black carpet at the bottom this go around as well. On my last build I took the upper metal piece off the door panels and just ran vinyl below. I use marine 4 way stretch vinyl and a 1/8" head liner material for my padding. It work really well. and 3/16" hardboard from Home Depot or Lowes for my door panels and 1/4" MDF for the cargo panels. I've built a few sets over the years and I build these as I go and use the OE panels as a template.

You think the hardboard and MDF is the better route to go. I had planned on getting ABS plastic (1/8" for all)

I've never used ABS for the panels. Not sure how the glue and staples will hold to the ABS (I feel the staples will pull out and let the vinyl release as soon as it gets hot) I could be wrong, just my Murphy's Law approach to these things...

I like to use the materials I listed (cheap, readily available and easy to work with). Unless you are planning on submerging your cruiser in water... HB and MDF will work just fine. The OEM hardboard you have now is 20+ years old.... :meh: I use a thicker MDF for the cargo panels because of speakers/woofers and I usually add tool holders and whatnot to my panels.

There isn't a wrong way to do it... just depends on how you want it to be.

Spent some more time sanding this afternoon. PS fender and the upper rear hatch. The DS fender on Goss is better than my spare fender so I'll wait until I have access to the shop to strip the rest of the panels/shell down.

Plan on stripping the interior out tomorrow.

J, it has been more than a month and I know you are on here... WTH MAN!!! Hope all is well and wish me luck in the next couple weeks, gonna finally get after the wheel wells on BeBe. Tomorrow I am head out to my old stomping grounds to visit my dad and then take him to the (@orangefj45) Valley Hybrids Cruiser Swap meet.

Lots of stockpiling, however, not much work on Goss.. removed all the interior (except drivers seat) , all the metal for ROOF RACK, SLIDER, FRONT/REAR BUMPERS , and cargo barrier arrived today, AC compressor and hoses are in the R&D stage.. about to pull the trigger on a set plus 1 of BFG KM2 345 75 16s SINCE THEY ARE BACK IN STOCK!!!!...

Ordered an aftermarket carpet kit to TEAR apart to make a template and start making carpet kits.... ANOTHER THREAD IN THE NEAR FUTURE... (WANNA BE A GUINEA PIG GREG?)

Waiting on custom billet knobs from Georg for the Ranger, 5 speed and Twin Sticks.

All LEDs are in route or here.

SpeedHut gauges are in queue.. (changed my color scheme ... STAY TUNED)

Several lengths/bends of 3" and 4" exhaust pipe are here for the re-route of the exhaust...

Yota Radiant Red paint color has changed to Yota Barcelona "Metallic" Red FOR THE TIME BEING... THE COLOR WILL CHANGE A FEW MORE TIMES I ASSUME......

Lots of R&D and money hording/spending for goodies....

All my time has been consumed by the repairs on the house from the flood/water main break while working in TX...

I have PMS pretty much every day ending in "Y" right now! No offense to anyone.. just tired of keeping up and helping others with 20 things... ( a select few have my attention...)

J

...I have PMS...

They are called conversations now anyway. I wonder if it was meant to protect you and possibly others. :hhmm:

Joking aside, I can't wait to see what is going on when you have the time sir!

Hell yeah.

Send me a message with more details!

Sounds like a plan dude! BeBe could use some new clothes!

It'll be a bit before I start making the carpets (hopefully next 2 months) , but I need a few tester rigs for fit and referrals... I need to come to Reno/ Carson City for a break anyhoozer... Tahoe should be phenomenal then... Looking for a 80/20 carpet supplier now, found a really nice luxury plush material...

J

Sweet sounds like a plan... Definitely let us know when you come and maybe we can all make a trip down to see Georg at Valley Hybrid so you can meet the man/legend!

Carpet testing sure sounds fun cough cough. Are you making them to sell?

Good luck with the stereo typical rust rapair,
on one side I welded the seatbelt holder from the inside and now I have to do the outside next year so next time I will slash all the rust out...
The road check guy was using a little nasty screw driver and kept punching from the outside to the rust :(

You have no rear seatbelts?

This is easy compared to my last two cruisers.. took the belts out for repairs and carpet/jute fitting. I'll cut the rust out in full and weld a new piece in everywhere needed.
