That's a Selectro hub on the passenger side -

Tucker

Actually, it appears to be the earliest ASCOs that were offered, believe in 74.

Too bad they don't match.

Have a set of Selectro though, if you're interested.

My parts rig has a set of Warns on it. I am going to take the PS off the parts rig and put it on my pig. I ordered a front axle service kit with all new seals, etc. from Beno today. I am looking for a tie rod kit now. Yogotota's kit includes the rods and ends and run $250 plus... Ouch!

Looking for a better solution. Any ideas?

555s.

They're cheaper, but have found there to be a reason on the 80.

Don't toss that one oddball hub. If you're not going to run it, can surely find something to trade.

I don't need the hub. I was just going to putti back on parts rig to seal up the hole. What do you have in mind?

Want to trade that nasty old, junky hub you have for period correct, shiny Selectros?

Hahaha.

At this point, haven't sold much of anything, sure haven't come out on top for what I have, and intend to continue sending you whatever you need from my stash for the cost of shipping, so I really have little to offer, since I'm giving away what I have, to begin with.

What carb are you running?

Do you have a filter housing and bracket for?

Have a rear heater?

Interested in a shackle lift?

Have all of the above, some with significant money invested, but will owe you for a window gear, so surely can work something out.

I'd like to find a match to the hub you have, clean up when I restore mine, since they'll be very cool additions to the 74 model resto's in the future.

Bushings came in the mail today and look like they will work great.

We are working on the brakes now. Look at the hubs in the photos. DS is a Warn, the other side, no idea. What do you think?

I am going to take the PS Warn off of my parts truck and put it on the pig so that they will match. I know there is a hub kit that should go on there. Can someone tell me what that is all about? How difficult to install the kit, etc.?

PS lock-out is ASCO product (factory piece).

Delancy,
I will just send you the hub and stuff a trash bag in the hole on the parts pig. I may need some of the other later on. I am not worried about it now. It will be a few days before I get it off.

fuel sending unit

today, I got my FJ40 sending unit in the mail and I bent the float rod to something that resembled the FJ55, and then installed it with stainless M4 screws. I am hoping that this will work. I could not source one made for the 55, and since mine was totally shot, if this works at all, then I will be ecstatic.

For the tailgate, I sourced some M8 socket head machine screws to use on around the tailgate. I think in the future it will be much easier to remove them using a allen wrench vs. a large phillips screw driver. Anyone done this?

Having a hard time removing the Selectra...only moves about an 1/8 th of an inch and will not budge. I don't want to damage it. Any ideas?

Today was a good day.. I think. I inspected the cylinder walls on the block, and they appear to have minimal scarring. Machine shop will tell the truth on that. Crank looks good too, but that will have to be verified by the shop. We have been steady at it this week and last. Just about finished with undercoating the rear section, and braced up the pillars in preparation for the rocker change out. I also removed the front clip off of the parts pig, and undercoat ed the exterior firewall, and the underside of the hood. I dropped off several parts to be cleaned and bead blasted and primed, and painted this week too. Things are moving along. We may try welding some fender patches in tomorrow or working on some doors. May try and hit the front axle 30000 mile service... I have lots to do.

week ending 09-20-13

Been working away at the old pig this week....

1.) removed rear sway bar, rust proofed, painted, installed with new bushings
2.) removed front and rear brakes, installed rear brakes, all new wheel cylinders, and turned OEM drum. front drums turned OK too, I am going back with drums....against the advice of all on MUD!
3.) undercoated most of frame and rear section of pig
4.) worked on tailgate, mostly cosmetic and rustproofing
5.) sanded 50% of pig with 36g and finally removed most of the dirt on it !
6.) cleaned firewall and instead of painting, put undercoating on it. ditto for inner fenders and core support from parts pig...they look great! May run a coat of UV resilient over them before install.
7.) removed all steering rods and researching tie rod ends.
8.) finally marked all pistons, caps, bagged and tagged all pieces, removed clutch and flywheel, removed timing backplate, and finally removed crank from block.
9.)_ dropped off block, crank, and cam at machine shop for initial assessment.
10.) started removing DS rocker and rear quarter panel damaged section
11.) researched hinge rebuilding process - dissassembled mine, reserving pins for reuse.
12.) received window gears from machine shop.

Anyone top that?

Midgainc,

Beats me, moving right along.

My check for the gear, goes out Sat. Thanks again, you showed a big effort to make that happen.

Glad I could help with the gear. I hope they last forever. I am just ready for a tailgate that works! The photos show a little dust on everything. I am having a hard time keeping everything clean with all of the grinding and sanding going on. I want some input from you guys.....

What do I need to do about weatherstripping? I have heard tha slo cruisers are not a perfect fit. What are the other options?

Can't say with certainty, but the dial should remove to expose the c clip on the eve of the CV.
Remove c clip and slide off, is my assumption, if anything like any other LC I've encountered.

Coming your way today.

and the dial comes off how?

thanks for the filler neck. it is all that is needed for me to install the fuel tank, which is a milestone in saying that now the beast is going back together!.
