Fresh rebuild crank won’t turn after installing in truck.

a little oil visible in pic but upstairs looks dry
dumb question: what bolt did you use on crank
supercharger uses M22-1.50 x 90 mm bolt
Super bolt stock one is on the left.

Oil pump was full of oil and drained out the normal amount. No metal anywhere. Crank pulleys off and everything looks legit timing marks all lined up still. Tried rotating with no harmonic balancer and oil pump out no dice. Currently draining down radiator and block going to pull this beast. I have pulled the head and pans in the truck but find it easier to just yank the whole thing. Especially if it ends up being transmission related I will be happy I yanked the whole thing.

It's gotta be the trans but i dont know how. I read through the whole thread and cant thing of anything that would prevent rotation.

Agree I don’t know how either. the truck sat for 3 years, towed to my shop on a flat bed rolled in and it’s been about 3/4 months I have been chipping away at it. I checked all the fluids and everything is tip top.
Plus side is I got a new main engine harness in the mail I can throw in and think I will change out the brake booster and master cylinder when I have the engine out. Just need to see if @cruiseroutfit has the 95 80 series boosters in stock.

We sure do!

OEM or Japanese aftermarket?

Is it at all possible that the transmission isn't actually in neutral or park? That maybe the linkage wasn't adjusted properly before you got it and moving the mechanism manually will release it?
I tried that first. Verified linkage was correct and tried in every position just to be sure.

Subscribed to see how this pans out - we don't have much to do with auto transmissions here but can the input shaft of the Auto seize on anything internal?

The only thing that turns inside the transmission with the engine rotating is the front pump. The torque converter could have been only partially engaged and jammed the pump rotor when the bellhousing bolts were torqued. You'll be able to separate the engine and trans with the torque converter still attached to the flexplate, though this is not the preferred method (be prepared for transmission fluid to spill out). Once loosened, if the engine will turn, carefully inspect the trans pump and torque converter--both may need to be replaced.

I actually suspect there may be a problem with the main bearings, but hope there's not.

Question:
Do Toyota shortblocks come with assembly lube on the main and rods?

What is weird and not making since is that it fired up and idled fine no noises or anything weird. I shut it down once oil pressure starting climbing. Then I buttoned up the front end, installed the drive shafts, hooked up the shifter and put the center console back together. Then had the timing light out and only got a clunk when trying to start.
Try undoing that stuff and cranking it again? 🤷‍♂️

I know you're deep into this already but here my $0.02. Assuming I read correctly and you can't turn the engine by hand at all with all accessories mounted.
  • Remove all belts - Try to turn engine at crank bolt
  • Remove all plugs - Try again

If these two check out, which it seems they do based on the comments here's whats left:
  • Torque converter keeping engine from spinning.
  • Remove inspection plate and check in converter area. See if you can remove bolts to flywheel and turn flywheel with a pry bar.

If that doesn't lead to a resolution:
  • Pull timing cover and inspect.

Considering you appear to rebuild plenty of these I have left all the obvious - "Did you torque correctly?!" statements.

I’m thinking torque converter and trans pump as @ToyotaDon eluded to. The only other thing would be some crazy failure in the engine but that seems unlikely given everything else checked out ok.

Did you prime the oiling system or put any grease in the oil pump under the cover prior to first startup? I wonder if you fired it and the oil pump was airlocked and didn't get the oil moving until it'd galled a bearing
I've seen that a few times over the years on various other toyota engines....
