Very nice, has to feel good to see it coming back together. Did our jack work as well on assembling the tranny?

Sorry for the lack of updates, been working my ass off to get it back together for this weekend but don't think it's gonna happen :-(

Got the cross-member burned in:

I was able to use a '84 FJ60 cross-member/mount cut down on the DS 1 1/4" and the mounting holes slotted a but. I had originally bought a '87 setup, but it won't work unless you go to the tilted bellhousing :-(

Tank installed:

Got the oil pan installed and motor buttoned up, only thing that is lacking is oil filter relocation and exhaust.

Pulled my tranny tunnel back out and sorted out my H55 issue, details here:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/new-h55-issue.799698/

Also got the mount for my remote oil filter fabbed and the cartridge housing installed, ran into an issue with some of the AN fittings I ordered so I had to order a different type :( Hopefully get that finished up this weekend ...

Where did you get these door panels?

One step forward, two steps back. Good news is it fired up on the first try and ran great after all the bottom end work I did (was worried the IP timing might be off). The bad news was the turbo return line adapters I bought didn't hold under pressure. Nothing like a 3/8" oil line at 60PSI completely separating ... 10w-40 geyser in the garage! Of course it was pointed at the fan, which created a nice even mist over the inside of the hood and everything underneath. Spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning, think I'll be cleaning for a while :(

Ordered -6AN adapters and braided line last night, hopefully that will solve the issue.

Well that sounds like it was exciting!!!

All the parts finally made it tonight, been working under the dash with a multi-meter the last few nights sorting out my lights issue. Got everything working again including the reverse lights tonight, will be working on the turbo return line this weekend. Getting close ...

Been a little while since I've posted here, my oil line fiasco had further reaching consequences than I realized. Long story short, oil starvation scored a couple of cylinders and FUBAR'd the engine :bang: Sourced and replaced with OM617a number two out of an '84 300TD, costly mistake:( Got her up and running again, working on a punch list for the LSLC Roundup next month. You live and you learn right?

Man, that's a shame. We all know, oh so well, when dealing with old vehicles and rebuilding them, things can go wrong. Glad to hear you sucked it up and moved forward. I don't know about living and learning, if that was the case, I'd be living in a condo on the beach! But I'm not. :)

Hey Tucker, sucks about the motor...am digging the build up however!
Any chance you'd have any closer pics of the sliders installed?? I want to do something similar in the future and need some inspiration....

That sucks to hear man, but I'm glad you're sticking with it. I might have sent my 40 into level III preservation out at the boneyard...

It seems that anytime the oil system is changed from stock there are problems a la Manny's 40, yours, et al.

I need to relocate my filter because it's extremely hard to get the filter out with the speedo cable, but I think I might look to adjust the cable vs messing with the filter housing.
