The notch is in the lower pan at the bottom of the second pic, the whole right side that is smooth and gray is a raises 1/2 below the mating surface. That pan is easy to remove, I'm having Baktash TIG weld this same notch into a brand new pan for me. This one was brased and completely cracked and leaked when the diff hit it ... I'm also adding extended bump stops that Dave Gore made me so it doesn't get hit again.Tucker, where is the notch at on the pan? Can you take a pic of the other side showing the welds? What was difficult about removing the pan? Was it the RTV that was on there?
For the pan, did you buy a used one for baktash? or get a new one? I am sure it will end up nice, they do awesome welding. What about adding a skid plate to protect the underside?
