175K miles, 4-Brand new 33" Big O MT's less the 1000 miles on them, 3" of Lift SUA, New Optima red top battery (bought in Jan), All brand new fluids (last Nov), full tune-up (Nov), all new belts (Feb), new water pump (Feb), thermostat (Feb), common rust spots, interior is in good shape, has yakama bike rack. Motor has good compression. Crappy Kenwood stereo, monster cable wires, and Sony explode 6 1/2 in the front doors. Never been wrecked, stock bumper has been hit dented by P.O. Front breaks pads are new, P.O. gave me the reciept for that when I bought the truck (end of July last year).

Also I have a wrecked (rear-ended) 2001 Yukon with a 350TBI V8, and a 4L60e Trany, 39k miles (THIS MIGHT BE SOLD ALREADY). My original thought was to put the 350 and the trany in the cruiser.

Reasons for selling: I’m in the process of buying an ‘88 FJ62 that already has a 350 in it. Also I’m looking at buying a 68 Ford Mustang Coupe. My wife said I have to sell this old FJ before I can buy the Mustang.
There is nothing WRONG with this truck. I thought about keeping her and making just a Moab truck out of her, but… I want the Mustang!

History: I bought the truck last Sept. I did a full tune-up and fluid change on her. The water pump seized up on me the end of January. I took 2 weeks getting her back on the road...parts issues. I've been driving her up Lil & Big Cottonwood Canyons to do some snowboarding. Other then that she gets driven 2 miles to the Trax station, were I mass-commute daily.

Any? Plz call or p.m. me. Cell: 801-633-1369, johndownard@msn.com

Thanks,

John

1975 fj 40 for sale-it's a monster

Pictures presently available on ebay under fj40

Vehicle Description

1975 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40.

Not Stock. When I got it a year ago it needed a new engine. It also had heat issues which needed to be addressed. I installed a new Chevy crate 350 engine with a Weiland supercharger to provide optimum low end torque and nearly 400 HP-besides it is cool.

The new engine has less than 1500 miles and the set up is pure bling with the engine painted yellow, aluminum head covers and an aluminum scoop which pops through the hood providing a hint of power. The scoop also provides cooler than normal air to the supercharger because of this location.

To address the heat issues I installed a new water pump, new hoses, thermostat, and an aluminum radiator as well as an electric fan which goes on and off depending on the temperature of the coolant. It runs at the optimum180 degrees on even the hottest day.

The incredible torque was awesome, but mandated that I install a torque converter which made it easier to manage in traffic. To ensure that the engine’s fuel/air ratio was always in the right zone for the supercharger and to provide 100% reliable starts from the new starter and flywheel, I installed an MSD ignition system letting me adjust fuel richness from inside the cab.

I also installed new gauges for Tachometer, oil, water, and battery so I could accurately monitor the new engine, the original gauges did not work. Then I installed a new speedometer cable and rebuilt transfer case (there aren’t any new ones unless you change out the drive shafts to go Atlas or Orion for rock crawling.)

The vehicle has 4.88 gears to handle the larger tires. So the drive train is solid and dependable. This vehicle is very capable for off road use-unfortunately, I have had only one opportunity to take it on the beach. It had Warn locking hubs and ARB air lockers which I have recently had serviced and upgraded. It has power steering and rear disc brakes which make it easier to handle the brand new 38.5 inch Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires on 15x14 Weld Racing Mountain Crusher wheels which I installed.

The truck has a great lift provided by a SOA lift and Rancho 9000 springs and shocks giving it more than 31inches from the rear bumper to the ground, much higher than stock.

The seats have been covered in black and yellow to match the yellow paint and have four points harness installed. This FJ40 is equipped with a first rate roll cage for safety. New mirrors were acquired from Cool Cruisers of Texas. For the last year the vehicle has been garaged when not driven which was ninety per cent of the time because it is kept at a vacation home. The tub and exterior are in great shape. I covered the floors with Dynamax sound and heat proofing before carpeting the interior to improve the noise level and limit the transfer of heat through the fire wall.

The vehicle is nearly rust free and I have used POR 15 to help keep it that way. I moved the Dual Flowmaster Exhaust to exit behind the tires so it does not have “exhaust blow back” like so many jeeps and landcruisers.

I installed a new battery. I bought a new full BESTOP with removable soft doors and a Bikini top both of which fit tight and keep you dry. The heater works well.

I installed a new B&M Short throw shifter-the old one was too stiff to move easily for my wife. It has an aftermarket rear bumper with tow hitch and a carry platform which can be used at the tow hitch point.

Truck starts first try. This truck flies and is fun to drive. It sounds better than any of your friend’s jeeps. This truck rides and drives like a dream and turns heads everywhere you go. This truck passes VA State inspection.

I am sure that I am forgetting things-too much to list! I am sure I only listed about half of what has been put in it-I have spent way too much this year as the total approaches $40K. I had it appraised for $26K. I have no illusions about getting everything I put into it out of it but decided to sell because I am paying a fortune in garage fees for a vehicle I never use. This is a solid vehicle that has no present problems, but these older vehicles always cost more than you expect –they are simply never finished.

What it needs:
It really needs nothing, just the little annoying stuff I never wanted to deal with!

A winch.
Left turn signal interior dash light bulb.
It could probably use a stereo-there isn’t one in it right now
Dash lights don’t work. I think I would replace landcruiser gauge cluster with a new speedometer and fuel gauge as the rest of the gauges are superfluous.
For someone to wheel with it. I intended to use it but….... please somebody buy it and wheel it. I promise, this thing will reliably go anywhere and could be used as a daily driver!

Note: This machine is not perfect.. It’s a 30 year old rig that has been “restored and modified”. It will inevitably have problems. With that said, this puppy still turns heads like no-ones business, and is a very mechanically sound rig. (It should be! Just about everything is new!) The mileage is a guess

Ok, now we are getting somewhere....

But really useless ad without any pics.....

Even you should be able to post about 3 or four...
