My question is about the engine and transmission in a 78 vehicle. I was under the impression that the 40 series diesel in 1978 was the BJ40. The BJ42 with 3B engine came out later and the 5 speed still later. Is the vehicle modified from some previous existence into a "BJ42"?

This link is to frame numbers of BJ42's. It starts in March 1980. My 1981 vehicle falls into the number sequence.

This site gives production dates of the Toyota diesel engines and models:

1994 TLC - Sell or Trade for Diesel

I imported this LandCruiser from the States about 8 months ago. It's absolutely MINT! Green with Tan leather. Auto. 136,000 miles. The leather is in mint shape. I have the full history on the truck. I also just put on brand new Bridgestone Dueller HL tires. New rotors and pads all the way around. I'm looking to get $17,000 CDN or to trade it for an older diesel HJ.
Please direct any questions and comments to my email as I don't come on this site too often. - beauh@cogeco.ca
email me and I'll send you a ton of pictures.

Thanks
Beau

FJ 60 for sale, AGAIN!

A "friend" was going to buy it, but backed out. Its an '84 FJ60, I thought it was an 86, but the title says made in '84. Passed smog in CA a week ago, reg till june of 06, NO rust, NO dents. This is a sweet truck. Has 163,000 miles, runs perfect. I did a pretty good tuneup on it prior to getting ready for sale, new plugs, OEM cap, rotor, wires. All new vacuum lines. I just want it out of my driveway to make room for boat. Truck is light tan. Can email pics. I am located in So CAl. Truck is all stock, I got it from a co worker whos dad had it since new. It has been a grocery getter its whole life, always maintained, always warmed up in the morning prior to driving. It has seen offroad ONE time, I took my son up around Big Bear, 4WD works. Underside shows no dents scratches etc. For the money, this is a sweet rig. $2350, thanks, John feel free to call me at 760 485 5307 for more info. I have pics as well thanks, John
