Dropped oil, pulled drums, and removed OEM perches from the 60 rear. Brakes and hardware look to be in pretty decent shape. Oil was dark and not the consistency of melted vanilla ice cream. Good and good. One brake cylinder was recently replaced - should make a good spare. Another small difference between my 77/55 rear and this 60 rear - 60 rears have only one brake cylinder per side. Two less cylinders to have to worry about. Another of only a handful of actual improvements the 60’s have over 55’s. So far in dealing with 60 parts for this project, I’m pretty comfortable realizing I’ll always prefer 55’s over 60’s. Simplicity goes a long frickin’ way.

Bottom pic shows how axle rich this project is so far. A source for used Cruiser parts quoted me $1,800 for a used rear 60 axle and $2,200 for a used 60 front. Got the both of them as well as the rest of the entire vehicle minus a few odds and ends for a total of $1,200. Choose your battles.

How clean is that 60 body? Any plans for it? Killer project, im picking up some 62 axles next weekend.

Body had a few rust issues. The roof is clean. Planning on gutting out the rest of the usable parts then scrapping it unless someone picks up the carcass.

Can’t remember if I posted pics of the low-pro perches I made. In an effort to win or at least get nominated for the Scrapdaddy Repurposed Material Award, I made these out of the 2-1/2” x 1/4” square tubing from one of my old rocker/sliders. Also wanted to keep the little brake line p-clamp mount from the stock perches.
Measured out where the center of the new perches needed to be 11/16” inboarded from where they were originally, and set the pinion angle to 5 degrees. Didn’t check what it was originally, but the 55 rear sits right around zero. Perches are just tacked for now.

Going with what I’m experienced with - Rust-Oleum rattlecan.

Front axle hung, verifying that the hangers are right. Next step for this to move forward is to put in an order for some main leaves that are 1” longer from the front eye to center, 1-1/2” longer from center to rear eye and enough arch to give 2” more lift, which may require them to be longer still.

Did your frame have the serial number stamped in the right front. I had to cut out a window in a fish plate in order to read it.
