tell me what you want to see and I'll take some more pics next time I head over.

Where are you living now Tony?

Monument area in the Jackson Creek development.

I have been doing some major remodeling of the inside of the house. Hopefully next week I can get the tranny back in and the driveshafts done! Got the tranny rebuilt and ready to go!

just if you have changed anything in the front. as in shocks and such

update.

just if you have changed anything in the front. as in shocks and such

I have changed a lot from stock. Nothing since what is in the pictures at this point. I'll go over it all once I finish and try to take more pics as I go. I got the tranny installed today. I didn't take pics. I figured you've seen one you've seen in all.

I also made an adapter for the Ford F-350 master cylinder to the toyota booster. I still need to make and extend the push rod to hit the master cylinder just right so I get the correct braking. Sorry no pics of that yet. Hopefully I will be installing the dual t-cases next weekend and finishing up the brake stuff. Then I can get to the putting the driveshafts in and rerouting the exhaust!!! Then I can drive it!!! Still have a lot to do to get it trail ready but at least I can see the light of day and getting it back home!!!

Update finally!!!

Ok, So a lot has been going on since I last worked in this thing. We moved, I helped move my in-laws from California, I did some major remodeling in the house, and we had a baby. Sorry I did not take good picture along the way, but I got it home and it is running now.

First a pic of the baby, then the cruiser...

In the last pic is what my H1's looked like when I got them. the first pic is what they look like now. Things I have done.

rear disc brakes
made adapter for f-350 master cylinder to mate to Toy booster
rerouted exhaust. (I will need to do a little more moving because the front d-shaft will hit the exhaust when front axle is compressed)
cut driver side rear wheel out and patched back together
rear d-shaft shortened. 1330-1350 u-joint at the axle
th350 installed with dual cases and made my own crossmember.
added some spacers to the front springs to even things out until I get longer springs
maybe have done some other things just don't remember.

few more...

the last pic in this set shows I need to reroute the exhaust to clear the front d-shaft.

one last pic. These are the 36" tires that came with the wheels. I think I am going to go with the 37" military goodyears unless anyone is selling some 38's?
I found some of those 37's for $75 each.

With 36" tires it sits about 21.5" to the bottom of the frame rail. I think that is pretty good. looks like I have plenty of room to go bigger in the tires too!!!

So for the front I was thinking of maybe going with radius arms instead of leafs. I would try to find some at the pull yard. What do yo think? The idea of out-boarding the front springs does not sound fun to me. I know it is easier but radius arms are pretty simple right?

i know its a little late but why does everyone outboard the springs to match the perches on the axle? why not more the perches in to match the frame for leafs...

sweet that looks great

on the front axle the perch is made into the diff center chunk

so is a SOA 60/40 ect... or do you mean right up on top of it?

but i have seen on many builds on many diferent vehicles where people outboard the springs even on a centered rear diff, or when up front clearance would not be an issue.

seems to me that if out boarding wasnt a requirement it would potentially yield better articulation from the additional leverage of the axles moving the springs.

:meh:

The driver's side perch is actually made into the diff housing. So it would have been a must to outboard the springs. It was also a good excuse to put coils in. I'll try to take a close up pic of the diff housing to give a better idea of what it looks like.

60 axles on a 40 or D60 in the front of almost anything ... on hte rear ya I've seen it to and dont understand

ok so it isnt just me then.

here is the pic of where the spring perch sits. You really can't move it.

ok thats not what i pictured in my head, it makes alot more sense now.

tires

I got my tire. $365 for the set of 5 and they are in great shape!!!

I cut down the run flats then ground off the sharp edges.

I have some wicked death wobble at 35mph. any suggestions?
tie rods are tight and so is the panhard arm. all suspension is tight no play.

I need to check alignment what should be the toe in or out?
I've been reading some about it and steering stabilizers can just mask the real problem. Seems like death wobble is a hard thing to figure out. could be even something as simple as unbalanced tires I guess.

any way here is the pic of one insert and a tire. I'll take more tomorrow in the day.
