Based upon this info do I understand that you will send both sets of cargo panels but you need the 76 panels back. And that you are ready for two sets of 6 panels?

Please let me know and I will pm you my address.

Steve

Steve,

I will send the early panels from the 71 (you can have those if they're deemed good enough to send) or the 72 (72s would be returned. Sending if the 71s are warped too badly) AND panels from the later 76 (76s to be returned).

At this point, I'm only in need of the (6) panels for the 76. My 72 is, at least, a year away from interior and would prefer not to store, due to possible storage damage and general lack of facilities to store, plus my goal is to salvage every aspect possible, so the 72 may be a job where the OE vinyl is removed and attached to new backing, too early to say.

I will PM request for your address.

Chris

Questions next box, since that's clarified.

Questions to any and all and semi-relevant, since input on vinyl choice is sought.

This isn't a resto and I've hurdles to jump through to get it to a part time DD condition, namely the front seating due to POs removal of the OE outer mount.

I'm considering F250 seats that look like this:

image-551610376.webp

They're manual buckets, with armrests, and ABTS, some of the basic criteria sought, plus preliminary measurements indicate they'll fit.

If selected, the only choices for belt colors that coincide with the overall scheme is black, which has prompted serious consideration to a black interior.

So, if the black avenue is travelled, can see black door panels, new black covers for the front and rear seats being in order, but want to match all, as closely as possible.

My question to all is, (sorry for the thread jack, but this seems easier) is an all black interior going to put me out to pasture with the black sheep?

I'm kidding, more is there anything that I'd regret, since returning to OE seat or OE seat covers on replacement buckets doesn't seem to be a feasible option, in all black?

My questions to Steve:

Is the black marine grade vinyl you've stated as an option for the door panels, suitable for seats, from a long term durability standpoint?

If it is, can I source enough to do seat covers from you, or can you direct me to wherever I can, if you don't want to hassle with?

If the marine grade vinyl isn't durable enough, is there consistency of finish and color amongst the same manufacturer that you purchase the vinyl from, that I could get an exact match to whatever product would suffice?

Chris,

I like the two tone seats. If it were me, I'd redo the rear to match the front seats and get the dark gray panels, on the doors.

Chris,

The marine vinyl is more durable and I can send extra vinyl for the seats.

The price quoted on the door panels is for automotive grade vinyl which is less expensive then the marine grade. I can match the same color but not the same texture between the marine and automotive vinyl.

I will get price tomorrow to see what the cost difference would be. I will pm you when I find out.

Steve

Covered in cloth?

Have a hair brained idea on the rear. Going to measure to see of there's any possibility to make it work, then ponder if I can live with the seat not folding flat.

Sounds good.

Like to maintain the option to recover both the rear and TBD fronts. Not sure how much that'd be, but would rather have too much, than not enough.

Let me know if the f250 seats fit. I like the shoulder belts and built in headrests. ... Prob has better lumbar support too....u need that with a top speed of 60 mph, which makes long road trips even longer.

dimensions, including height of low panel for those that haven't seen one.

I had not seen a low panel before - thanks!

Ige,

On the panel, you pictured, there is a rectangle hole in the corner. Is that for the rear vent or another ashtray hole.

I have one set with them and one set without.

That would be hilarious if they had opted for another set of ashtrays in the back! 4 in the doors, 2 in back - smoke anywhere in your Land Cruiser Pig!

I know the rear panels are going to be very doable. I can see how the cargo panels matched with the door panels would very much compliment the the interior.

I was curious about the length and they are short enough for length.

50% of my sells on the FJ40 door panels goes to Australia. I am limited to a maximum length of 41".

Now all I have to do is source panels (borrow) those with the short and long filler slot and also the panels with the vent slot.

So if I understand correctly, both type of panels are identical with exception of the filler slot. If so I could create one template accounting for the long and short filler slots and then the vents.

Steve

Steve, do you have sample panels to create templates with? I would be interested in a set of door panels, plus cargo panels with the long/tall filler slot plus the vents/ashtray holes. In the dark gray...

Man - go out of town a few days and this thread wonders all over the place. Back on topic, got my set of panels from Steve and unpacked them to take some pics this morning. These came well packed with the clips included:

Front panels:

Close-up of back of panel (greyish stuff is glue):

Rear panels:

The panel material is pretty close to the stock stuff, you can see the cutouts in the board for the arm rests. Hopefully I'll get to test fit at least one panel tonight, I'll post up what I find. I'm going to be painting my arm rests and window cranks with high end SEM paint (vinyl prep/adhesion promoter/flexible primer/multi-coat), so all the panels wont be installed until that is done. I will install a front and back to ensure fit for everyone, I had promised Steve I'd make sure the clips work as well.

Tucker, You read my mind, I was wondering if we were on the verge of confirming fit - thank you for update.

Looking forward to your eval of the clips Steve sourced, and how easy it is to insert them.

Question- what are the little holes on the back of both panels for? On the rear panel they are labeled "3/8"?

I'm not sure, guess I'll see when I'm installing them. I had sent the stock panels, he pulled off the vinyl and made exact copies ... these holes are present in those panels.

A1500ram, I too am interested in a complete set of 6 for my 1977 FJ55. I just contacted you on ebay about the possibility of cargo panels and I see that discussion is alreaay on. I also asked about kick panels. Does anyone have any good kick panels? I have part of the left side but not enough for a template.
