Michigan is pretty easy, but costs a bit. I got a "bond" through my insurance agent- usually 500-800 bucks depending on vehicle value. That goes to the DMV (Secretary of State) and they issue me a new clean title after a vin search (to assure it isn't stolen). If there is ever a claim on the vehicle, the bond company pays the claim. The vehicle is permanently mine and cannot be taken away

I’ve used this process in VA to get several titles over the years.

If someone buys this 45 and needs a title I’m happy to help. Just PM me. Your state might have something similar?

Basically a barn find. I just bought it last month. Was told it spent its life on a ranch near Aspen, CO and had been bought by the rancher in 1972. Dont know the history between 1965-1972. Also told by PO that it sat in the barn for 20+ years as well till I bought it thru a local fella who had it for only a month before I came along.
It has a full drive-train swap from a 1986 FJ60 to include the engine, tranny, tcase and axles. Power steering and Disc brakes of course were brought along with the swap as well. Interestingly enough they also brought along the front and rear anti-sway bars. Runs and drives very nicely. Strong engine. Drive-train swap was done very well. Front springs were out-boarded a bit crudely though. I already have a new 4" HFS spring set to go under it and I will clean up some of those items along the way.
I like the patina look with how the rancher had spray painted over the factory paint but I am sure I will do another frame-off restoration on it before too long anyhow and make it all like new again.
Attached are some pics of a couple of my other 40's that have received the full frame-off treatment in my shop.

A 40 series set of rear springs won't work on an LPB though.

Congrats. Definitely the best driveline to make them enjoyable and still Toyota.
They will after Alcan Springs gets ahold of them. They are 3 miles down the road from me and have built springs for me for other 40's of mine. They will modify the HFS rear packs for me.

Have to finish up a buddy's 1980 Toyota mini truck project to make some more room for the FJ45. New Low Range 4" long travel suspension, new spring hangers, U-bolt flip, crossover steering, 5.29's and 4:7:1 tcase gears, etc. It will be set up the same as my 1985 Toyota Mini for Moab runs. Moab is just across the Utah line from me.

Pulled the 40 tank and had an aftermarket galvanized(?) 45 tank in my parts stash that a buddy gave me 20+ years ago. Time to use it and put it back toward stock to a certain degree. Dont recall who made the aftermarket galv tanks back in the day. Anyone recall?
