I don't have an exact answer for you, but $OR lists the side panels as having four different side panels throughout the years. 1962-1964, 1965-12/1974, 1/1975-8/1976, and 8/1976-1984. So.. hard to say exactly with my knowledge base. Good luck!

SOR dates are off. The FJ25 thru sometime in the 63 model the B pillar was high on the tub and the side was cut out to match. Next style ran thru part of 65. Then until 12/74. The last two were the same except for the start of the vent window in the side window with 77 model. That is in the US market. Other markets were different including side sliding windows instead of a vent window. There were other small changes including brackets for seat belts.

everything will fit just fine, but you will need to do something for a lower tailgate panel.

Just the side panels themselves are going to fit many (almost all) years. The only major things that changed are the windshield header/ door headers etc... the rear one changes from barn doors/tailgates to ambulance doors and the side panels changed to match as well. Will they fit? Yes, but you may need to drill some holes etc...

Got it. I've passed on the '71 and have bought ambulance doors from a fellow Mud member. I've sourced the correct Side Panels and I've spoken with Mike Gozzard about purchasing one of his fiberglass hardtop roofs. Slowly creating a complete hardtop. I'm buying red parts to match my '75 because I don't want to paint my fj or the parts I'm buying because I like the original look (no gust involved). Next I need RED driver and passenger doors. The hunt continues.

The seller of these Rear Side Panels states that these panels are used 58-76 FJ40. Do they really fit all of these years?

That is not correct. The early to sometime in 63 there were two tub designs. The soft model door opening was similar to the Jeep at that time. The hard top had a high B pillar. The later corrugated top years the sides are straight on sides and back. To work those require the top cap and bi-fold rear door. The header over the side was also different. Generally speaking the mid 65 when the corrugated sides ended can be used on all FJ40s with only a few mods on piece that bolts to the windshield and to adapt either ambulance doors or the hatch.
