I'm a little late to the game but I'm interested. I'm in SLC, UT. I see Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters has signed up. Hey Kurt it's Reed.
I have an 1976 FJ40 that needs a good shake down run and I have my 1989 FJ62 as a back up. Obviously, free-way travel is not so fun in the FJ40....no problem for the FJ62.

Welcome to the "Free-way travel is not so fun in the Fj40" Club...! LOL

That's the reason why this expedition is so epic, as even though most of us can attempt to escape the freeway by using back roads, it pulls you towards it like a tractor beam... Kicks ass to be honked at while you're going 55 though!

:clap::steer:

On Sunday 11/20 I will pick up the baton from Booch and take it back home waiting for the next person to pick it up. I have already planned the trip using secondary roads to stay off of the interstates. Trying to dodge 75+ mph traffic is more than I am willing to try in my 40. If I am honked at I can blast them with my air horns!

Are you planning to attend the ONSC Christmas Party?

As it stands now, yes I plan to be there.

I've been getting my latest Cruiser roadworthy for this (77 FJ40) by driving it along 287 back and forth to the station. Top off and doors off. 55-60 mph and people just stare as they go by or give a thumbs up.

I'm thinking 1300 at Fort Clinch. It's a hike at 55 mph. We will be without the baton, unfortunately... Once it makes its way to NC, one of us can pick it up, drive it to CHS, and mail it wherever it needs to go.

@ErikinSC @Godzirra @mel lowe thoughts?
I'm still planning on being in St. Aug by the 27th(late, or so) any chance we can hook up to pass along to GA Arc/Tenn80 in Rome (on to Mentone,Al.) by the 29th?

Unfortunately, no... We ran the Charleston to St Augustine leg this weekend without the baton in order to keep schedule. @David1947 picked up the baton from @Booch at the NC/VA border yesterday. I was going to pick up the baton at the ONSC Christmas Party on the weekend of the 5th, drive it to Charleston, and mail it to the appropriate destination. Not sure if that's a bad idea or not? We just had all of our plans set and couldn't make a later weekend than this past weekend.

Like they say: If there are no pictures, it didn't happen. Well, here's the proof. Chubot and I met up with CharlestonG8R, ErekinSC and Godzirra in Fernandina Beach for lunch in the Historic District then cruised down to Nassau Sound to get into the sand (sometimes it's hard to find a place in Florida that hasn't been paved yet) and do a quick photo shoot. From there, we (sans Godzirra) headed south on A1A to the Mayport Ferry and crossed the mighty St. Johns River. Continued down A1A for a sunset drive and met up with Mel Lowe for the formal hand-off of the surrogate baton. We had a great time and turned a head or two along the way; not every day you see five FJ40s on one day, let alone in one place!

If you want to get the Baton back on track quickly, it can be sent it to me. @sggoat and @Tennessee80 are working on our itinerary now for next weekend/week. If this works, send me a PM.

@jetranger according to the map what legs are you planning on taking part of? Based on movement at this moment when is the planned time for the batons to make it to the west coast I plan on partaking on the adventure so just wondering when I need to be operational and at 100%

Hey there! I am available for any area within a couple hundred miles of Vegas. Looking at the map, if there are some Phoenix members, we could meet them around Kingman or Wikiup, then bring the baton to Vegas for a few days, and possibly drop it off to someone in SoCal around Barstow of Victorville. I'm guessing this wouldn't happen til March or April, judging by the progress so far.

That sounds like a plan. I stay 34 miles north of Barstow so I will take part in every leg I can and get the batons moving when they make it to our coast.

View attachment 1355507 Wow, good job on the pictures Kayaker. The one with the Piblix bad lighting turned out great man.

That looks like an awesome sight for the patrons around. Nice rigs fellas.

Ok, Cross Country team, we have run into a bit of a scheduling snag. I have successfully been passed the northern baton from @Bluegrass40 and the southern baton (a fill in version until the real one is mailed to me or @Bripars40 ) from @sggoat and @GA Architect . With the holidays upon us , and I am now out of town the weekend of Dec. 9, @Bripars40 and I won't be able to hook up for the double baton pass until January.

Thoughts?

Sorry about the schedule mix up, it's been tough to get right with everyone's availability...

IIRC, @Copenhagen1 and @cbmontgo are in between you and I, so hopefully they will chime in.

But as far as I'm concerned, a pause until January some time would be fine. My hard top is on, heater works good, and winters here are mild, so no rush. Once it gets west of @4Cruisers , winter weather delays will be more of a possibility, but at least we've all got 4WD, eh?

Yeah, it will be slow going until the weather breaks, I bet! At least I have flat ground from Nashville to Memphis. I have no excuses once I start rollin that way :steer::hillbilly:

January works fine for me as well.

My brother and I were going to meet bripars40 in Hot Springs and get the baton to DFW. No problem if it is January.

Just keep me posted.
