Thank you for saying the name of that event correctly! You can always tell if someone is a Georgia or a Florida fan based on what school they say first. Go DAWGS!

Yep, it will always be Georgia Florida to me, or alternatively the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Go DAWGS!

My work schedule has gotten crazy busy with traveling soooo if someone from NC can meet me near the border I can hand off the Baton as needed first weekend in Nov is packed however I prob could swing one of the others to meet
Hmmm. Let me poke around the club and see what I can turn up.

Driving the -40 to a CFB game is always a blast.

Parking under a Palmetto.

Beating another SEC school..

Driving home after a S Carolina win is even better....

Wish it worked out that we were making the SC to Fla trip for the game between the Gamecocks and Gators on the 12th.

OK thanks, I remember him now.

Yeah, he would be in between me and @Fireman for sure. I will try and PM him if he doesn't see this and respond soon. Calling @bkdraft to the white courtesy phone...

Doh! I've driven 287 a hundred times at least; Chillicothe is in between Iowa Park and Amarillo, I just remembered. So, I will pass off to @Fireman , and Fireman will pass off to @bkdraft , who will pass off to @POTATO LAUNCHER.

That makes a lot more sense.

I'm thinking 1300 at Fort Clinch. It's a hike at 55 mph. We will be without the baton, unfortunately... Once it makes its way to NC, one of us can pick it up, drive it to CHS, and mail it wherever it needs to go.

@ErikinSC @Godzirra @mel lowe thoughts?

That should work fine for me. It looks like a nice weather forecast for Saturday and should be a nice ride down 17.

I am thinking I might put the full doors back on now.... my left arm gets chilly riding with the half doors during the winter months...

@jetranger according to the map what legs are you planning on taking part of? Based on movement at this moment when is the planned time for the batons to make it to the west coast I plan on partaking on the adventure so just wondering when I need to be operational and at 100%

I'm in! Thanks for getting this started! I was playing around with Google maps and plotted a route if it were to start in Seattle.

Approximate distances:

Seattle – Portland – 175 miles

Portland – Eugene – 115 miles

Eugene – Medford – 170 miles

Medford – Redding – 150 miles

Redding – Danville – 210 miles

Danville – San Luis Obispo – 225 miles (my leg)

San Luis Obispo – Los Angeles – 190 miles

Los Angeles – Barstow – 115 miles

Barstow – Las Vegas – 160 miles

If you're not married to the US 17 drive from Fernandian to St. Augustine, I'd recommend taking A1A and crossing the St. Johns on the Mayport Ferry. The ferry crossing would make a great photo op and the route is definitely more scenic (except for the section between Mayport and Ponte Vedra) and you get to skip going through Jacksonville altogether. Just a suggestion.

I was actually talking about the Hwy. 17 route from Georgia to Fernandina. I agree on the Fernandina to St. Augustine route being A1A. I just hope I can make it. I changed the gasket on the top of my carb and now my 40 won't idle and makes a giant sucking sound on start up. I'm thinking it's a vacuum issue but I'm taking it to my mechanic today to check it out since I'm fairly limited in mechanical ability.

I was actually wondering if Hurricane Matthew took out any of A1A south of Ponte Vedra? The cruise down to Vilano Beach is nice and I like driving the Vilano Bridge in spite of the inevitable traffic...

Well good luck I hope he can get it fixed. You probably left a vacuum hose off or something.

I'm a little late to the game but I'm interested. I'm in SLC, UT. I see Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters has signed up. Hey Kurt it's Reed.
I have an 1976 FJ40 that needs a good shake down run and I have my 1989 FJ62 as a back up. Obviously, free-way travel is not so fun in the FJ40....no problem for the FJ62.
