@73fj40lc oh it’s a journey. I’m not discouraged in the slightest. It drove a little when I got it. Enough to give me the bug. You point those wheels and cowboy will take you there. It’s mine.. I found a good one.. now I can take as long as I want. I have a garage, tools, and enough patience (I hope. Lol) it’s a labor of love at this point. I’ve wanted one for awhile. It’s all pleasure from here on out!!

Speaking of. Cowboy keeps giving me surprises. Beautiful paint... and.. is that original plastic?! (It looks metallic but it’s really clear plastic)

Got some parts in! Plus the gas tank has been cleaned so tons of stuff can be reinstalled!!

I put in the rest of the replacement soft lines, installed the gas tank on felt, replaced the fuel pump, reinstalled multiple armor skid plates on the passenger side, reinstalled the battery mount, reinstalled the seat, and finally got to put the windshield hold down hardware on!!!!!

Well he runs pretty good now, but when I shut it off and turn off the key, it keeps sputtering for a bit, then stops... on the plus side I touched up the original dealer license frame.

Glad to see your making progress!

What are you referring to? The picture didn’t last in the quote.

Fourth picture in post #103 shows the center console. That bend at the back of the opening to set things in is not stock. Very common to have happen when people use it as a step when going thru from front to the back or back to the front. So common some think it's stock.

Amazing what you can get from Toyota still! I’m making small victories lately. I got the body and chassis FSM, so now I’m making baby steps.

What is still on the list:

- figure out the dieseling (I have some ideas)
- time the engine
-tune the carb
-get an emissions manual (somehow...)
-Fix my light switch for high beams
-get a replacement radio speaker
-get the rear heater repaired (it leaks a bit)
-get the break and seatbelt lights to work.
-find out where my engine breakeris poping at. There’s a jumper on the carb solenoid I assume it has something to do with that.

That should be about it to getting it on the road at 85%. I potentially see a light...

The jumper on the carb is there because its not getting ground to the idle solenoid through the emissions control computer. Its not a computer at all rather a printed circuit board. That lives in a housing above the clutch. The solders to the circuit board are probably cracked/broken and need to be resoldered. See my 40 thread for some pics etc... your year is prob pretty similar but with a metal case instead of plastic

The radio works!! I now have an OEM AM radio with an aftermarket speaker. It’s in the same place and everything. I used OEM male terminals from @Coolerman to have the speaker work with the original radio. It’s loud too!!! Thanks autozone.

@S.CarolinaFZJ80 i tore the emissions comp apart. It all looked fine but it looks like a bug or something got in there. There was some crusty brown goo on some of the electronics.... I cleaned it off... we will see.

Does anyone have a factory exhaust on a 1977 that they can take pictures of. I’d like to see where it attaches and where it bends around.
