Nice job Dan. I assume there is a shiny pulley down there somewhere ?

I hope to have mine up and running before I hit the road.

I scored a brand new Sanden, polished no less, in the demo bin at Summit Racing earlier this week after striking out at our Pick and Pull. Every once in while even a blind dog finds a bone...and I was overdue for a deal on something! :)

Its silent even under load. And boy is she FAST!

Yeah...the remainder of the system was from my OBAv1 full set-up including pressure switch, relief valve, dash switch, dual 1-gallon tanks, etc. I just changed from driving the prior Sanden 508 from the camshaft to now driving it from the serpentine belt.

ah gotcha. so it's an electric clutch that controls the engagement with the relief as a safety. do you also use a dryer? overkill probably for oba.

Yes its the same electric clutch that serves the Sanden as an air conditioner (freon) compressor. So the pressure switch feeds 12v to the clutch...and hence it automatically shuts it off at my 150psi switch highside and back on at 40psi for the low side. And then I have a switch, actually using 1/2 of the OEM rear heater switch in the OEM location, to power up or down the system. Plus a 200psi pressure relief valve.

No dryer per say but I use a coalescing filter to trap the oil and then a 1 micron vapor filter that takes any hint of oil vapor out. Works great.

Well...after all the custom work on the spressoWAGON this year including the 1" body lift, custom one-off front upper control arms, custom rear upper and lower control arms, Stoptech BBK, extended driver's side seat brackets and the rear Radflos...this is the best this rig has ever felt by a wide margin!

At some point I'd like to upgrade the front shocks but the Fox 2.0's will do for now.

Looking forward to several upcoming road and off-road forays to further the testing process.

Oh yeah: The Sanden OBAv2 kicks ass!

Cya in a few weeks.

Any Hundy guys going to SnT?

Dan

spressoAIR OBAv2 update: I added an oil drain back from the coalescing filter back to the Sanden. It wasn't a big deal to empty the coalescing filter but the drain back works great!

Working on final pricing for a kit...

Ok...finally timed the inflation rate of the new spressoAIR OBAv2. To inflate one of my 285/75R18 tires from 18psi to 52.5psi it took 1 minute 26 seconds...with the engine at 1500rpm.

And it does, given I currently only have 2-gallons of air storage, a decent job of supplying air for my 1/2" IR impact gun. Time to tap into the sliders for more air storage :)

Niice! That's comparable to CO2 fill times. Seems like you wouldn't need more than 2 Gal with that many CFM, will it run the Impact long enough to do one wheel?

More than that is probably overkill.

One wheel is not problem. Much more than that then I have to wait 15 seconds to get back up to ~100psi. No biggy. But the sliders are just sitting there waiting for a future project...now :D

Great inflation numbers!

Consider a 3/8" IR gun...

A 3/8 IR gun will break loose 6 lugs and remove them with no delay using a PUMA 12v compressor with a 1.5 gal tank.

3/8 IR gun produces enough torque (200lbs+) to do anything you need on the trail.

Ahhhh Yes, creeping featuritius. :flipoff2:

I have a nice 3/8" impact and you're right it does take less air. However there are a couple bolts/nuts on my rig it won't touch .

I also have a nice SO 3/8" butterfly type impact that just works great with the OBAv2 and my spressoAIR blender...for those times we just can't live without blended frozen coffee drinks :D

Almost as sacrilege: Blended frozen smoky margaritas!

Don't most blenders have a 1/4" square drive? It's almost like somebody planned it huh?:grinpimp:

Well the old Oster's do...most of the new blenders have gone away from the square drive in favor, probably, to a design that is more legalbeagle approved

kennyao30: I just shipped one kit to a member for test fitment and overall feedback. Then if that goes as anticipated I have another that will be sent to another member with an '06 for test fitment with the VVTi. Then, assuming no changes need to be made, I'll post the details including price and kit components. I basically have everything ready to go...

The final prototype kit I've been using & testing the past several weeks is even more amazing than the Sanden 508 in the video: 9.5cfm output at 1,000rpm and rock solid (Sanden SD7). And the Sanden's are rated to 240psi...so you get 100% duty cycle, 9.5cfm @ up to 240psi (most will set these up to peak at less than 200psi).

Not everyone will need or want this kind of air volume output. But for those that do its quite the tool for relatively high and unlimited compressed air volume.

Thank you for your interest!

I am running two 1-gallon tanks mounted on the driver's and passenger side frame rails just about underneath each front seat. They're very protected in this location (I'll post some photos...when my torn hamstring heals enough to get them taken ) Someday I'll probably add more air storage by tapping into my sliders. With the aux tank I'm out of space for more/bigger air tanks.

I'm running a coalescing filter and then a vapor filter downstream of that with an oil return back to the Sanden so its a closed loop oiler system that results in very pure air quality. Although I haven't had the air tested there is zero oil vapor smell and when blowing air at white paper there is no oil residue visible.

Ridding even oil vapor was important to me for some of the uses I have beyond filling tires and powering air tools: I have a down air filled mattress (Exped DAM) and need clean air for obvious reasons. Additionally it sure is nice at the end of a dusty day on the trail to blow out the accumulated dust in the cabin with pure air.

And even blowing the typical heavy accumulation of dust from the outside of the truck, especially around the rear hatch, makes camping just a little nicer out here in the land of dusty trails ;)

Most of my 40/60/80-Series wheeling buddies have York air compressors...nothing unique for those platforms. But figuring out a belt driven OBA system for the 2UZFE, given no one had done it before, has been a work in progress...but finally I think I've got it where it needs to be from a design standpoint. With collectively over 30,000 miles on the OBAv1 and OBAv2 systems (the compressor mounting brackets are nearly the same) I'm confident its solid and reliable!

nice addition to the truck....

can't wait to see it in person again someday.

Do you have a ballpark on what the whole OBA setup will cost?
