Good info! Sounds like I need to head down to Les Schwab and ask for 315/75R16 chains. I would have asked for 285/75R18 chains so that is helpful.

Honestly I've yet to date to need chains and mainly want to carry them for legal reasons. Technically some of the mountain passes around here it is required to carry them during certain times of the year. It will also be part of my "oh s***" recovery items. :D

They may actually have the correct size by now...but if not you know the 315/75 16" will fit. Yeah I've never needed them on pavement (yet) but out in the boonies while hunting...

The Stoptech Big Brake Kit I recently installed also requires 18" wheels. Maybe I had the only 100 with deficient brakes but HOLY WOW what a difference with the Stoptech kit! The only thing I'm a little upset about: I should have installed them sooner!

Since you obviously love the BBK, are you considering doing the rear as well when they release it?

Yes. Although having said that the current brake system doesn't scream for more right now.

Thank you for your compliments! This rig has been a 6-1/2 year project/obsession

I wanted a less wide tire than the 315mm width that is offered in 35" on 16" wheels so I upped to Tundra 18" wheels a few years ago to be able to run 285-75/18" tire size (35" diameter, 285mm width on 18" wheels).
I understand and mirror the obsession comment!

I would have to guess, although may be wrong, that less sidewall w/an 18" vs. 16" equals slightly lower rolling mass and less weight therefore less of an effect on mpg maybe?

I think about fuel economy as I drive almost two hours out of the metro ATL area to get into the "woods".

My 10,000cst silicone fan clutch fluid causes me significantly more mpg loss than any of the tires I've run to date. And I have a plan to address that too ;)

Oh do tell plz.....or will this be a part of campfire tech in a couple of weeks?

I have an 80 but the validity still applies - there is no doubt this mod has an enormous impact on MPG. I'm seeing about a 2MPG loss...great temps, but $ loss. What's your plan for fixing this other than changing the fan clutch oil?

DING DING DING...and we have a winner! But not just any electric fan...stay tuned :)

I'll be interested to see how you get it to fit. Or should I say how you get them to fit. Gonna be a challenge finding/installing a single electric of that size. A two stage electric would be a nice addition.

OBAv2 update: The 508 is mounted...now for belt length tuning. Maybe, just maybe, this thing is going to work as I dreamed it would!

ITS ALIVE!

I need to clean up the air line routing, etc. but the Sanden OBAv2 driven by the serp belt is a reality. And the mounting bracket ended up being even more solid than the prior OBAv1 driven off the cam.

On to testing!

OBA bracket next product for spressofab?

Maybe. I need to see how much it will cost to fab the brackets and where the kit price would be.

The bracket is basically the same as the OBAv1 I've been using the past year+ so that part has been thoroughly tested.

Very nice and oh so shiny!

what does she sound like under load? Do you have relief valve in the system?

I scored a brand new Sanden, polished no less, in the demo bin at Summit Racing earlier this week after striking out at our Pick and Pull. Every once in while even a blind dog finds a bone...and I was overdue for a deal on something! :)

Its silent even under load. And boy is she FAST!

Yeah...the remainder of the system was from my OBAv1 full set-up including pressure switch, relief valve, dash switch, dual 1-gallon tanks, etc. I just changed from driving the prior Sanden 508 from the camshaft to now driving it from the serpentine belt.
