Finally installing mine today. Also doing sound remediation on the doors since I have the door card off. The wiring was easy just followed the video for wire colors.

Nice! How do they work?

Its still torn apart. Had to go out of town for work this week. I will get it back together this weekend. I was waiting for new 3m butyl rope to put new vapor barrier on the doors. Also shampooed and cleaned the door cards so they are drying. I did do a before video on window speed so I will do an after video once installed.

Finally got my windows buttoned up and reinstalled. Since it was torn apart I put sound proofing in and new vapor barrier and shampooed the door cards. It is faster. Mine worked pretty well originally but the rear windows are definately faster. One side note I wrapped the circuit boards in electrical tape as I installed one side and they contacted metal and shorted my relay out. Just had to use a paper clip and reset it on the top near the fuse panel. I also taped the circuit boards in place against the vapor barrier and door card so no where near metal.

I designed a little 3d printed case to slap the boards in if people want the file. I stuck it on the backside of the door card. DM me if you want the print .step file. It’s not perfect by any means but it works. Uses M3 screws for the little end plate.

Jonny- can you clarify something for me. As I understand there are two issues with the FJ62 power window PCB and switches. I have both issues - so just want to makes sure I need to repair both.

1. The relay fails on the drivers PCB which prevents the drivers door from going up. I can tap on green box or jiggle and driver window goes up- but doesn’t otherwise. If I fix this it doesn’t fix #2.

2. Slow windows due to char buildup on window switch contacts increasing resistance. I understand there are physical and ground causes as well - but most are the low voltage issue your PCBs fix?

Am I correct that I need to fix both to get “functioning fast windows”?

Yeah your understanding is correct. To get four functioning fast windows you need to do both.

Hi There,

@jonnyd42

I have an 89 FJ62. Had a shop install the full set in the car and it keeps tripping the breaker in the fuse box. I have to stick a pin in there to keep resetting it but it doesn’t seem to want to handle the load of the mod. Any ideas what the issue can be? Have you or has anyone gotten this issue yet? Everything seems to have been wired up according the instructions.

Thanks,

David

Read post #263 on this page.
Do you know how they mounted the circuit boards in the doors? If they’re just hanging out in there one or more of them are probably shorted out. The back of the board needs to be insulated somehow with a non conductive material. I bought small project boxes for mine. But haven’t installed them yet.

Thanks. Hopefully it’s just as simple as that. Stay tuned ..

That was my post and if the circuit board at all touches the metal door anywhere or any metal it shorts the fuse at the drivers side. I fixed it by wrapping entire circuit board in electrical tape and taped it in place to the vapor barrier between vapor barrier and door card so no metal around except the actual window switch itself or the speaker. tape it againt the vapor barrier and no worries if it decides to move after install.

Yup you should wrap the boards in electrical tape - that's what I have on mine; sorry if I didn't mention that in the install video!
Or - 3D print one of those snazzy boxes :)
