That's looking great :) I wonder how many people are now hoping for their head gasket to blow so they have an excuse to follow suit. I'm sure you are happy that it is almost finished.

God, I love the look of the 1FZ-FE sticker on the VC. I wish all of them had that as a badge of honor....the last great Toyota inline 6.

I just went out to my garage and told my 2JZ you didnt mean it!

Beautiful motor. This thread is awesome. 1FZ pics everywhere AND exotic travel! I read every update.

Yes. Not a problem. In fact I'd rather put the crank pulley on with the engine on the stand.

The only potential conflict will be the water bypass pipe that goes around the front of the head. This comes into play when the tensioner bracket is installed.

So then should the new bypass pipe be installed first? I can drop that off in the morning.

I got back my 60 that has been sitting forever so I'm still on cloud nine on that front. My wife is going nuts. She wants it down four weeks ago.

Thanks. My next travel stint takes me to exotic Las Vegas. I need to update my shots.

You need to get some dirt on that thing. It looks too pretty to actually fire it up. ;)

Well the ceramic counting on the exhaust shields already have their first scratch so....

Yeah I can't wait to hear it purr. Dying to see what kind of temps and dyno numbers it gets pre-SC

What, you didn't wipe down the fender wells inside the engine compartment while the engine was out? Why, you lazy .... :-)

Zero time :(

I know I know. Totally unlike me. It would have taken me another week to come up with something interesting to do to them anyway :flipoff2:

Couple of questions...

• Fan- the fan, with the SC spacer, is only about 1/2" or so from the radiator. No issues? Also, the fan I got from BENO doesn't take up very much space in the fan shroud. AND from what I can tell there is nothing that needs to be trimmed. Did I get the correct fan?

• Red or Green coolant- had the issue been beaten to death and do we have a resounding winner? Most of what I read say red here on the board. But both Martin (machine shop) and Richard (K&H) recommend against red and suggest going Toyota Green.

Coolant--I know that Robbie also suggests Green coolant, and based on that, I switched over years ago to regular Prestone and change it out every 2 years. Not saying it's better or worse, but paying $40 per gallon of Toy Red is crazy.

NLXTACY...cost on the Toyota red aside. Did your guys at the machine shop and K&H say why they suggested not using the red coolant.

The "recommended" 4Runner fan is smaller in diameter and will sit about 1/2 inch from the radiator. Because it is so close you do have to trim the lower shroud in a curve to match the fan.

The TRD "ringed" fan appears larger than it really is because of the flared ring that connects the blades together (preventing them from flexing into the radiator - and limiting the ability to push air) it will clear the lower shroud without modification.

did you use a different fan, as opposed to the one that comes with the sc kit.

The p/n 16361-61020 fan has produce excellent results for SC'r in Arizona.
