I am excited for solid state batteries to make these swaps even more awesome! More range, less weight. Fingers crossed Toyota does indeed come through with their SS batteries... because that would just make it even more sweet.

It looks like $49k is just the motor and battery packs. There is quite a bit of work to make it all adapt properly, wouldn’t surprise me if they charge another $20-40k to compete an Fj40 with their motor/battery set up.That’s a pretty standard cost I’ve seen on a few places, I was kinda curious if there are added costs just to adapt the FJ’s to make them ready. I’ll look at the site though, maybe 49k is all in.
Thanks and keep posting your photos on IG!
That’s kinda what I’d like to know. I could do this with used Tesla motors and batteries so I’m curious the difference because these guys are lot more refined then I would be.It looks like $49k is just the motor and battery packs. Investment is the right question.... it is common to underestimate a "swap" of any kind let alone an e-swap. Donor, + de-ICE'ing, + any resto mod work, + system + installation... We are aiming to offer a variety of range and power options and also develop as we can mounting solutions....What’s the expected investment in this build(s)?
awesome response, this is what I was hoping to gather. I have my Diesel which will never (cross my fingers) be a donor, but I have spotted a few along the way and have considered it. I may contact directly for some guidance, for instance how much can I de-ICE and hand off a clean ready car. Thanks again, I'll keep watchingInvestment is the right question.... it is common to underestimate a "swap" of any kind let alone an e-swap. For now we provide the turnkey systems and offer a few range/pack size options. The 173 is a bit small for these and twin 173's is a bit pointless in our eyes.. We did provide the system for the Downy show but that is boiled below basic in what we would suggest for a day to day.. The 413 with a direct drive to TC is what we are doing in the next couple.... The 40's are looking at about 65-70 kWh packs and system costs currently running $70-100k. Aiming to bring costs down with ramped up production in the coming 2 years. These are complete wires systems including the options and additional components like powers HV steering, HV- AC, HV coolant heaters, VCU, BMS. etc. About the only OEM level system with all new components minus the "donor". The 413 is a 800V system.
Now you can start kicking some math (money, time, things) around that is reality.
This year will be fun as we have the 60, the 40, and a couple client 40's on the deck. Will keep posting as super cool things are coming from behind the curtains in short order!! Appreciate everyones interest and open discussions!
So, not a kit that can be owner swapped with just the necessities for the minimalists out there?Investment is the right question.... it is common to underestimate a "swap" of any kind let alone an e-swap. I think I would be on the same boat, I would take the power train and not much else that might be interesting to other EV fans or Resto fans. I could even envision phased mods like get the power train done and slowly change or add nice EV features. I have an HJ45 now which is all stock, I would love to get a simple all stock unit that could take an engine swap and instead go EV.So, not a kit that can be owner swapped with just the necessities for the minimalists out there?
Because mine is still in decent condition, good enough I'm not interested in restro whatever work. And while I wouldn't give up power brakes and hesitant to try manual steering (which was original on mine), I don't have AC, and could live without the heater pretty easy, and would probably be happy enough without a whole list of "systems" I see EV swappers worrying about.
Well the 40 is slow but hoping it back from restoration/Paint etc in the next month. SO why not check out the FJ60 fitment

I’m sure it’s an in progress thing… but the lower bolt looks loose.
What setup does Willwood use for the e-brake on the rear rotor? I’m looking for a automotive e-brake that would work with a second caliper on the rear rotors.

Hmmmm... It is odd. 400 or 500 HP of power coming out of a gearbox? yep. A motor w 18,000 RPM connected to a single speed reduction gear box that fits in the space of a standard size transmission footprint and connects to a T-Case | drive shaft is not normal. But thats what it is.The term single speed transmission is confusing, what does the aparatus do ?
