It’s fun when we have an in-house Marquee build like this 70 FJ40 which will be a development platform for the eGT313 EV system fitted specifically for the 40. In this case it will feature a direct drive through a single append reduction gearbox mated to transfer case keeping the 4x4 driveline from there.

Frame stripped and off to sandblasting. 1970 one owner FJ in great shape for 50 years! Getting ready for the next 50!

Just cant stop thinking it's so modern analog looking. This 750Volt animal is going in the FJ60 soon too.... and the 40 will be a 400V system "repackaged" with more battery capacity used up front and direct drive to TCase option with 279ft/lbs.

Happy to see a customer interested in a DIY FJ build is going to be receiving an entire build list batteries (50 kWh Tesla S modules) included. Someone will be busy during home isolation!

Now that would be a sweet project. I guess the question is affordability for the masses.

You converting the '63 'Vette to electric too?
I'm hoping not!
Had one once in the early 70's when someone in their mid 20s could afford one. Traded it for a 65 goat. Had I only known what I had.

Excited to see these are improving (cruising range) so quickly since the first 40 series build. Any idea how far off ~300 mile cruising range will be realistic on a 40's build?
Be a while.... 15lbs roughly for estimating purposes per kWh of energy and range in a 40 is 1.9-2.3 miles per kWh...... Math tells that story regarding range. Daily usability is another story:)

Working up fitment toward the FJ60....... A D100 with custom "skin"... @700lb motor block inclusive of 26kWh of imbedded batteries, 13kW OB Charging, 406 ftlb motor (ICE =@425HP  ) & inverter (Scoops) Integrated HV Junction box,Clutch assembly and Billet adapter plate... ... Oh yeah, and its a 750V ecosystem ⚡⚡⚡ ... This is whats coming for the red FJ62.... Getting closer to driving.... looks like June...

What is the battery capacity? Where is it installed? Do you have pictures?

Do you have costs for the package?

What is the wiring between the battery and the motor like? Pictures?

What is the cost?

curious too- moreso just for the electric conversion not so much a whole frame off, as I have a 100

Our 1st FJ was very much and R&D crate motor program build and not for production. It is getting a new battery in 2 months and will be about 43 kWhr. Split between mid and rear. We are building a new FJ 40 with a 313 motor with direct drive to tcase and it will be 55-60kWh with weigth distributed front (to get the 700-900lbs into the motor bay and balance distributed. More to come as we pursue the newest FJ40 build and the re-batter of unit #1.

Stock up on popcorn.

New everything, almost:) Thanks to Stretch's Speed Shop here is So Cal for helping move the eFJ40 eGT313 project forward! New or rebuilt everything including front and rear Diffs with lockers... Disk brakes, wheels tires, steering box, shock/springs, bushings, bearings..... and yep.... Time for P&B work to start...
