wrapped and refinished the rear buildout with a durable black vinyl wrap. Looks a lot like a fin line-x. Super happy with the final look. Looks a lot more like something that the would have been offered from the dealer. Blends in with the interior much better.

Looks great!

Great build! Bruce is a beast. I am running a full stock 91 JDM HDJ81 that up until now thought was going to leave it in touched. I have some questions but I will leave that for the future. I found you by searching for the Driftworks turbo. The only thing that I haven’t seen you spend a lot of time on is the pump and injectors. I used to have a turbo diesel Westy that I sent my pump off to Giles at Performance Diesel in Canada for him to make me one of his pumps. The difference was profound. Smooth, powerful, clean, and efficient. I think proper tuning and rebuilt injectors would be the cherry on top right now from an engine perspective. He is the best ten times over. You can read all about him in the VW threads.

Amazing! Yeah i havent dug too deep in the injectors and IP... yet. Its proving tough seeing as this truck is my daily and Im always on a tight DIY budget, so i cant have it sit for too long while i send the IP out. with that said, i know it is inevitable that it'll need that work done. Right now though, its running smoother than ever!

What are your longer-use thoughts on the Drift Motion turbo upgrade?
So far its been amazing for what Im looking for. Sure, you'll get a lot more performance out of a G-Turbo, but that comes with needing to tune fueling and everything else. This is a great mild upgrade for good reliable power. Spools sooner and holds longer. Sound better. Really cant complain for the price.

That’s great thank you for the update. After reading this I went back and reread the one thread in the Giles pump. Here it is: 2 thumbs up for Giles at Diesel Performance Inection - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2-thumbs-up-for-giles-at-diesel-performance-inection.795472/

It reminded me that our pumps are 30 years old. As well as from my previous experience with turbo Subaru’s that power and performance are all in the tune. That’s amazing that the drift works turbo is coming on earlier and holding longer. They have rebuilt 1000’s of CT26 turbos here in North America. As much as I want a GTurbo specifically the one with the Blue titanium wheel to match my blue truck I don’t think it means they have some special strawberry flavored nipples.

I am really trying to twist your arm to have you send your pump away to have it tuned for somewhere between 15-20psi and see if you have the come to Jesus moment I would expect.

haha someday I will have the pump rebuilt. I just don't want to tackle the removal and installation of the IP anytime soon. Plus, this truck is my daily driver, so im hesitant to do work that will have it sitting for too long at the moment.
