Well, my blue pit female and blue staffy male decided to kick the living snot out of my elder female dog (14+). What I really needed was another crate and separate, vet bills and heartache.

Dang, man. That is awful to read. Hoping that your old girl makes a full recovery.

Reason to why?🥺
It's the second attack by the younger female. Lela is 14+ years old and was a really, really dominant alpha. First attack was immediately after Lela had a stroke a few months ago. This attack was immediately after my lovely bride gave Lela favorable treatment.

Maxie, the younger female is sending a message that the pack leader needs to go, imo. The male dog is a super confident idiot who is just going along.

🙏 for Lela. She's a wonderful dog. Hoping that a balance between the females can be achieved without further violence.

Our Pyrenees (also a female) dominates the living heck out of our Saint (a male); even though he's got 80 pounds on her. She loves to play with the Saint. He is typical of the breed and is ambivalent, but he tolerates her. Sometimes, when she tries to get him to play with her... the Great White comes out. It happens in the blink of an eye. She always backs off, thank goodness, because I would not like to see a true throw-down between them.

I wonder this happens more when there's 3 rather 2 in a pack? We have had 2 and 1 is always more dominant but not to the point of "breaking skin".

The young dog is now sleeping in the barn and comes out to play with the male during the day.
Sounds like a good plan to me. Hoping that things go well.

We have 3 but they are 2 labs and a golden. While the puppy is playing very rough, growling, biting and pulling, the older dogs seem to accommodate her knowing she is a baby. They show no aggression but maybe that’s because they’re all goofy

I think it’s just their nature to give the baby a pass. When Cal gets tired of Storm he just grabs him by the neck and pins him to the ground. If the pup is biting his legs then Cal will gently lift him by a front leg and flip him over. I see a lot of redirecting going on too. If the puppy is getting too rambunctious Cal will pick up a bone and Storm will spend the next 10 minutes trying to get it.
Dogs do a better job raising young than most people.

Which then quickly translates to how close can we get to the human

An improvement on when the dog woke wife up with his snoring...

She thinks she should sleep on her back ALL the time

Dropping the boy off at school. Gets the front seat on the way home. Have to catch him unawares…

Do you cut his hair? I've cut my female cattle dog's hair twice and she looked black like your August for a long time, but now that its been over a year since I cut it last, she is much more white/grey now. They say cattle dogs shouldn't be cut because of their double coat and something to do with temperature regulation, but I prefer a shorter coat on my dogs and I can't see how trimming them would cause issues in the temperate climate I live in.
