Windshield down off road is great, I've done it plenty of times over the years. On road not so much... the wind in your eyes and bugs in your teeth aren't very fun.
I chose to use the early latch on my 40 to make it faster to drop the windshield than the fine thread knobs , 20-30 seconds when the top is off
You’re in good company there. @pardion grafted early latches onto a late model w/s frame for his Rubicon ready 40 decades ago.

Quick question... What model/year is your Landcruiser? Doesn't look like a 40/55/60... 70 series?

One of my favorite parts of the fj40 is rolling with the windshield down.
That’s a 70 series, and the passenger arm is NLA for RHD. When I did mine I just used 2 of the same size. One was just slightly longer than the other so really not noticeable at all.
Do you have the hood bump stops as well?
Yes, it is a 70. I am seeking far and wide for a folding arm. The hood is well equiped for the windscreen, l have no needs there. Just a folding arm

the only issue it that Toyota only sells the passenger side for RHD vehicles.
The drivers side on RHD is NLA, and not being made anymore. Dave Stedman at Japan4x4 wasn't able to find it anywhere and stated NLA. If he can’t find it, it Probabaly doesn’t exist outside of buried in some warehouse lost. there is roughly a 3cm difference with the passenger side being 3cm longer. I figured I can live with or modify to make up that 1" difference.
Isn't Toyota still selling new a soft-top version of the GRJ71? Or it's only available for LHD countries?the only issue it that Toyota only sells the passenger side for RHD vehicles.

I refer to it as "putting the A/C on high" although it's just more hot air down in TX
