How do you find the Shotgun? What's your riding position like on the bike?
It's been an amazing seat for our little one.How do you find the Shotgun? What's your riding position like on the bike?
When I look at the social media posts of the Shotgun in use, they tend to be riding in a more upright/short top tube style, whereas I am much more flatter, cross country/road style, so am concerned with how little one will fit.
24HRS of Old Pueblo Recap:
5 person co-ed team. I went 4th.
Lap 1: Single Speed

Lap 2: Geared: Night riding
Two douchenozzle “racers” who couldn’t just wait a couple of hundred feet for me to pull over to pass basically pushed me aside and off the single track and over my bars I went. Landed hard on my right side, shoulder and chopped up my hips on a big cholla. Spent ten minutes pulling fǔcking needles.
Busted up my deraileur and bent my hanger. Ended up getting it sort of in a position where I could keep the chain on the highest gear. Fun. 7 miles in the hardest gear going uphill.
Anyway, decent time regardless. Pushed hard as hell to finish up.

Final lap: beautiful riding day. I was the last to ride today…. Everyone else was already drinking beer.since I had to finish after 12pm, I pulled over and just chilled watching folks come by for about 35 mins.

Take-Aways:
I would definitely do this again with either myself and one other person or with two other people. Either alternating or chopping up the laps into groups. Guess I’ll need to figure this out for the future.
Any MUDders want to do a MUD 24HOP team next year?
With 5 people it was 4-5hrs between laps And during that time chaos ensues as well as cold hands and feet and body and an inability to get any real rest. I’d rather keep pumping.
I would definitely do this again single speed. This course is perfect for single speed. I was 32:18. Would have probably been happier with 32:19/20 if I continued riding SS.
It’s a fast course on a geared bike. Would be interesting to switch between bikes for a full 24hr run at the race.
Anyway, will definitely be doing this again next year.
I resemble that remark. The race aspect starts to take the fun away for me. I got real hurt one year, text me and i’ll tell you that story. Our team name the next year was “Scarred Stiff”
I think an annual mtb retreat would be more my style.. camp out and ride whatever. No CAT3 nerds with power meters ruining the fun.
Not a problem for a 2-bike-at -once riding BA like yourselfis buying two new bikes in two weeks considered a “problem”?

By that do you mean a more upright position? That's my concern, and why I've been looking at what I can do with my bikes to tweak it all through to working. I also ride XL frames in most things, but am looking to running a long (dropper) seatpost and swept back bars on a Large to get me that more upright position.I would want more rise out of my setup to make it work
Yes, I need less saddle-bar drop , if not basically city cruiser (positive) drop.im limited in options due to the bars/stem that came stock on the bike, and a dream to keep my only mtb setup so I can ride it by myself without much change too. A steerer tube extension is one such thing, or a new fork with an uncut steerer.By that do you mean a more upright position? Interesting that you say there seems to only be a small window where it works, what sort of age range did you find there? I have a long 3 1/2 month old, so when she gets big enough this is certainly a consideration. I also have picked up a Burley D'Lite trailer as well, even though she's a while off on that, I can at least get her used to being in it before it goes behind the bike.
Unfortunately freight to Aus might be a killer for your Shotgun.
I will hunt out your other post on the Shotgun, and see what I can learn from there...

Nothing like a bike fit to make you feel your worstI'm thinking of unloading my S3 Stumpjumper and replacing it with a small Tallboy. there are some smokin deals on these right now and that Bike Fit I did has given me a fantastic excuse to be even more poor
That's sort of what I was thinking, but I was looking at keeping torso to top tube space and bring myself more upright through stem/bar combinations (including a swept back bar to push me up further).Yes, I need less saddle-bar drop , if not basically city cruiser (positive) drop.im limited in options due to the bars/stem that came stock on the bike, and a dream to keep my only mtb setup so I can ride it by myself without much change too. Yep, the guy I got the trailer from said it was good for trailer naps, I've got some OK roads nearby for trailer naps so that may well be the plan in the future, especially given how she goes in the car or her stroller. All said, bike naps do not happen with the shotgun, can happen on the Yepp (I’ve used a cord to help keep his head upright) and will certainly happen in a trailer. I’ve got some friends who logged some serious mileage on/off road with their kid in a trailer.

Barry at Cyclogic. They are in Scottsdale. It wasn’t cheap but it was super helpful. Used the size cycle, did seat pressure mapping, mapped all my joints. Left with a new set of insoles and justification for a bunch of new bikesWho did your bike fit, Joey?
I've been toying with the idea of having one done professionally. I've got a few leads here in Tucson.
Well... the 2nd hand frame has come down again, and I've just done a build up in Excel of new vs 2nd hand frame, and also SRAM vs Shimano. The only flaw in the new bike plan is that the build came up about AU$1500 too much, so I might need to look at what I can shave in that build...
