Took my recently-acquired Scott Sportster X50 for a proper ride, and... crap, I am distraught now.
Talking to myself here, but my lovely wife heard my anguished pleas and came out to the garage with a measuring tape. Short story, reach and stack on the Dr. Dew are very long/very short compared to the Scott (and to my Vado). I did take the Scott for a proper long ride and it was a chore - beat me up (arms and shoulders are aching), not as easy to pedal on anything but flat, smooth sections. Gawd I hate 3x in the front as well - not knocking it, but I seem to be a 1X guy.

For those (not here) who claim steel frames are inferior, I'll testify that is not the case. At all.

So, now I'm on the search for swept-back riser bars for the Dew... Got a few in mind, such as Jones H-Bar Bend (not Loop), Tumbleweed Persuader, Fairdale Archer...

been on holiday for the past month. nice to be home and back on the bike.

On today's ride, I ran across a very ordinary middle-aged man walking along a rough trail (which I almost wiped out on). He was picking things up, so I stopped and chatted: he said he's an artist, and he collects pine cones and other natural debris for his work. As I was about to resume my ride, he said he was going to go sit in an adjoining field and read; cool. He asked me if I read the bible; nope.

He offered me to come with him so he could read the bible to me. Seriously? I got the f**k outta there faster than I've ever ridden this trail.

Great day riding the Oracle Ridge section of the Arizona Trail. Pretty brutal. It really is a hiking trail. Bikes on it are just dumb. 😂😂. Chopped up legs and arms. Great crew of friends from all over enjoying the awesome desert landscapes and weather.

Back in the saddle for the first time in about 4 months. Been dealing with injuries and trying to recover. (Still am so have to be careful) Lot’s of trainer time lately but no one wants to see that! Happy to get outside and enjoy this stunner of a day we had here in North Texas for early February.

Tuned out the world this cold, gray morning and did 23.6 miles on the American Tobacco Trail. Hardly anyone out, so it was just light mechanical noise, pebbles pinging off the steel tubes, and some birds of prey off in the distance.
