Belongs to my dad’s neighbor. I haven’t taken a good look but snapped a pic today. Been sitting in the same spot 12yrs I know of and probably longer.

We’ve casually have mentioned buying. Curious about other opinions

If you can open the driver's door there should be a tag in the door well with the manufacture date. Realize this is not necessarily the year of the vehicle. it could be built 10/86 but be and 87 year vehicle. The vin # is located on the driver's side dash and on the firewall tag can be decoded to let you know what year. They pretty much all had the same body style in the USA from 81-87.

from the outside there isn't an easy way to tell what year
underneath, the trans crossmember changed in late 1985, along with the steering box bolt pattern, along with the trans hump cover changing, etc
1987? the floor changed under the front seats so it uses brackets to support the seat versus the earlier one

That's in great shape assuming there isn't a giant rust hole in the roof we can't see. Interior is probably mouldy and toast but outside looks good.

If I'm not mistaken the headlight washer came in 85? :meh:
Would be nice if they would let someone buy it so it can live again.

Looks like a project for sure. What area of the beach is this in? PM me if you need a hand.

84-87 base on headlight washers. That’s all we can tell from here. Check the build plate on the driver’s door jamb.

Will likely need a completely new engine and drivetrain. It hasn’t been sitting in the desert all that time.
The moss growing on the sides of the body pretty much says it all.

PM me if you pass on it. I'd like to know how much he wants.
I haven’t talked to him yet. My dad has approached the old man and his son. Story I got was somebody gave it to them for free with a bad transmission and parked it on the property line. It sits with a old GMC jimmy and a AMC car. And it has just been used for storage as long as my dad has owned his place.

I’ll do another walk around when we get back. I’m on a snow goose hunt in SD now

Pre-1985 crappy little mirror

thought the pig ears were standard all the way until the FJ62 (ie 1988). Know my 87 came with them.

In Canada larger mirror were offer with 1986 HJ60 (I should have written pre-1986 to include 1985). Anyway, my comment is therefore no longer relevant since it is a vehicle intended for the US market.
