Well I was super excited about getting this on the way but the corner piece would not lineup . There is almost an 1.5 inch gap between the center piece and the edge of the corner pieces on the top the gap narrows as you go down. Kinda bumbed. I sent an email to @4x4labs and left Luke a message to see I can get new wings shipped or we can figure out how to get these wings bent to shape cause I don't have anything that can bend steel that thick. On a more positive note I got the spare tire carrier welded together....

@SammyT08FJ How wide is the piece that needs bending I can do up to about 20"
It's 24 inches long and 17 inches wide. It's that 45 degree line that needs the bend in it to bring everything up. The steel is almost .25 inches thick

Hey Sam, did you fit everything together on the truck, bolting the wings first and then laying the main shell on? Just make sure you have enough clearance to bend that wing in on the rear fender.

Yep. On the truck it was even further off

That kind of stops progress, doesn't it. Well, the good news is that 4x4 labs is awesome to work with.

They are awesome to work with, however, the quality control does leave a bit to be desired. I'm not sure if they just get in a rush when they get the group buy going or what. Had tube length issues when I built my original shell, had tube bend issues when doing Jorge's tire carrier. This is the first shell I've seen that didn't get bent all the way.

I found place in Jeff city that is going to be able to bend it for me. But before I go do that I want to speak with Luke for sure.

Spoke with Luke @4x4labs and he is shipping me out new wings for the bumper. They are off by 6 degrees

I said it before, and will say it again... Luke is good people.

Oh yep, it's the seam at the bottom, gotcha. Well now you have a couple of spares that we'll never use!

If he wanted some really serious side protection he could weld the old wings right onto the new ones. That would give about 1/2 " of wing armor !

So I was able to get started on my bumper on Tuesday. Long story short Luke did not have the correct wings cut so I called him on Monday to see what he can do. He found someone 30 minutes from my house to bend them into shape. They are not a perfect fit but I'll make it work. Here is the first 4 hours of work. Main section and cross beam were all welded and all the welds were cleaned. Here are my rookie welds

I'll post up my progress after I get done today

Looks like a pulling motion on the weld. With thicker stock, you may want to switch to pushing motion.

Well part one is done. The regulator started to freez up on the welder so I could not get the ladder done. Also I made a mistake measuring the arms. More specifically the distance btw the bottom part and the plate of the bumper. That measurement was supposed to be 1 inch well I'm little over .75 inches. So my struts won't fit. Something I'll fix when I get from Colorado. But for now....it's done. The one thing that was awesome is that the bumper was super snug when I first had it tacked on there. The final install not as snug and fit perfect. I'm pretty happy and once again I've learned a ton.
