So what’s happening with these transmissions is called “artificial demand.”

This demand of 20-50 people is not real demand for Toyota based on the MTBF statistics for the assembly and life-cycle of the vehicle.

Considering the last A750F in a Land Cruiser was 2007 (almost 20 years ago), A750F in LC format probably will have a few more years of availability before it’s discontinued.

That said, these are all remanned in Michigan by AWTEC from stock of cores they have sitting around. When those cores (assembly and torque converter) are exhausted, main assemblies will be sourced from Aisin in Japan until Aisin says yeah, no reason to continue building these. 10-20 units per year is not a market.

And considering larger Toyota context of Kenta Kon taking control of Toyota (he’s an accountant) and the larger move of Toyota to concentrate on new vehicles, I wouldn’t be surprised if these disappear sooner than later based on my experience in the Toyota parts ecosystem.

I have read entire thread to learn there is no pricing available yet :/ 280k stock engine and trans on a 96 triple locked. I am in CARB state so LS swap was not an easy option. hopefully this will be more affordable and easy solution.
I am doing my best to have pricing done this week and a timeline.

I’m sure not all dealers are gonna be the same but also I could be wrong, what are they getting for a core charge on these units? Cause with the piss poor nature of auto wreckers and salvage yards in this day and age. I’m just wondering if eating the core charge is worth it or is it best to find a clapped one?

Not going to find one cheaper than the core charge 🤷‍♂️

I actually found one local to me for $700 but according to the post the LC has 200K on it.
Nothing for a land cruiser ;) might be worth a gamble !
Buy the time you pick it up store it haul to to the dealer it's a wash IMO as far as a core charge go's

That’s exactly what I thought as I stab trannys all the time ( 20+year auto mechanic ) and I don’t ever think I’ve seen a core for less than 800 excluding very common hydro glides or early 4L60’s.. etc. I’ve been trolling the interwebs hard trying to find one for less than 400$ but everyone acts like it’s not a 20 year old trans and all I need it for is a bartering token. So maybe eating the core charge it would be, but if enough of us do it what if cores stop existing?

If Toyo reman route..... once you add Nomad or Extreme Valve Body and/or larger pan, Toyota warranty out the door. But I'd rather have it rebuild by toyota.

For the core charge does it have to be a LC specific trans or can a A750F from a Tacoma be used as the core?
