I’m guessing here but I would say the coil are mounted there for convenience and that its all done electronically with pickup’s off the fly wheel and or elsewhere.

I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

They need the pick up still so it’s a cap for the distributor. I very well could be wrong!!!i

The coil pack engines have a camshaft position sensor mounted 2/3's back along the head on the intake side. Ours use the dizzy as a camshaft position sensor along with distributing spark. When going to Coil On Plug you no longer need the spark plug wires, cap or rotor. This is a vanity cover to make it prettier and also allow easier access to the alternator.

Well clearly it not a cap for a distributor that does not exist.

I not going to call you a 6 year old or flip you off, IMO your guessing

Not to crap up another great MUD thread, but I did a thing on Facebook regarding 1FZ tuning and performance mods - covering all 1FZ variants and vehicle series. Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/990730457167406 All are welcome :bounce2::bounce:
As the new owner of a 1FZ79 pick up (coil pack motor) I went looking for a source for info that was a gathering point for folks with interests across spectrums - engines and series. Will be cross commenting and llinking back to threads like this one.
Talking to Johnny and @Cruisers and Co about a tune for the truck.

I had one for sale for a year and a half, nobody wanted it.

🤷‍♂️

Cheers
I wanted it, I was just afraid of what it would take to find a ECU and anything else it would take to make it run. 🤔
