I got a few more photos of the fj40 in the freak island winter snow storm a few weeks ago. These were taken with my vintage rolleiflex 3.5f

It was a little too windy for my tripod for the photo below... a little camera shake.

In January of 2016, we had a 30+ inch blizzard - a perfect time to take out the currently topless 40. My son and I headed out for a spin on the local back-roads (my wife and daughter were invited, but thought it better stay warm and safe. It was fantastic and we were amazed how well the 40 did in 4-Wheel High, with no lockers and tires that were roughly 85% spent. When we headed out, there was roughly 10 inches of snow, but we found a 30+ inch drift which hung us up, but we had a shovel along and in no time, we were moving again. It remains another enjoyable, long-lasting, 40-accompanied/induced memory...

We had just started to take things apart for a fairly complete rebuild, so there are no tail light lenses in place, but we were the only one on the road, and we still had the light bulbs installed, so we were good to go.

I took my boy yesterday on the FS road behind the house. Snow packed and perfect for a little hooliganism. He was doing pretty good; playing with the throttle input and kicking the back end around on the hard packed snow. Stalls it out- just restart it. Stalls it again- new to sticks. Now there’s a car behind us and he gets nervous. I swap seats with him and pull into the turnout to let the other guy pass. I also now have enough room in the road whip a sh&@ty. Back end kicks around with just to much momentum. Bumps the opposite snow bank. Only problem I forgot to move the seat; he’s 5’4” I’m 5’11”. I knock my head off the spreader bar in the cage. I hope I’ll remember it…

A little break from puttering on the 79, getting the lighting updated and working. Almost road worthy...sort of.

Kinda fun taking a spin in the fresh snow before the plow comes through again. Nobody else on the road.

I tried for a more dramatic photo, climbing a snow bank or something similar, but it just wasn't happening. A goal to shoot for!

Another day, another trip up the hill, a shot from last weekend I think.

Or maybe Saturday?

Could have been Sunday.......

Edit, checked the pic, that was Sunday.
