Got a few more. These were actually taken at the end of June but still it's my "Cruiser in the snow".

I got up pretty early knowing that we would have snow on the outer banks! what we got was more than I was expecting. Yesterday was the first time I had seen some real snow build up since 2018. I even got two snow days off teaching! Of course the Land cruiser was my weapon of choice to explore the 20mph snowy Siberian looking beach land scapes of Ocracoke island NC.

What surprised me most was just how well the fj40 does in snow. I have never driven my fj40 in snow and it was a fun experience.

The photo below was 6:30am gearing up to find a sunrise shot.

the patina picture looked almost like mine did pre paint job. Honestly speaking made me feel quite nostalgic.
It’s a pretty cool rig- I’ve never seen one as original as it is. Looks to have about 40k miles.

Thats quite a complement! thanks! means I am doing somthing right with it. It was far from original when I got it. The paint is I would say 80% original, the frame and axles are original to the 40. and I would say maybe 90% of the body is original. it had a SBC when I got it, the rear sill of the tub was toast, the seats were best top seats, it had some sort of cheep race steering wheel, the 3 on the tree was moved to the floor.... the list goes on. Fortunately I got those all returned to more factory. Has a 2f because it was easier to find parts for now, I moved the column shift back, the sill is welded up, and I have factory correct seats now. its come a long way from when I first got it. The saltwagon is what the previous owners called it and I stuck with the name.

The salt wagon is an on going endeavor. It is a labor of love.

Funny enough the odometer does say 40 somthing K. who knows if that was turned over. digging into things over the years it does seem to have sat alot of its life.

Like many of the recent posts, we got our first decent covering of snow this year on Sunday / Monday, and this pic is on Monday. We love going out in the snow, and this is the only Cruiser currently running and bikini is better than no bikini. It was a ton of fun.

We have about a 15 minute drive to make it to an area with dirt roads:

On the Saturday that follows my son's birthday, his friends all get together, regardless of weather, and throw him a bonfire birthday party. To date, I have been the head chef, serving up a complex meal of grilled sausages on a roll, with chips, and dessert. Ahh, but the rolls are also gently grilled, nicely warmed and soft on the inside, with a touch of toasti goodness on the outside (they double as handwarmers this way) - and this is only one course - everyone brings other sides, pizza, etc. They are young and it is cold, so there is no problem eating everything that shows.

The pics below are of this party, almost exactly one year ago. And before it starts, no that is not me in the fuzzy boots and collar.

Minnesota gets wet heavy chunky snow.

Except this year. We've gotten very little of anything.

With some abuse I made it out of this. (3rd gear, low range, against the governor, both axles locked)

No amount of skinny pedal was saving this one though.... Minimum maintenance road by my house. Which is actually in the background on the left side of the road. I'd been waiting all winter to try and make tracks and it failed. 🤣
