In case you are wondering why I haven't placed an order in a week, it is because i am out of town!

I have bought a lot of parts from Onur over the last couple of months. He is always very responsive, and if there ever is a problem, he takes care of it right away.

TOYOTA MAN came to my door today!!!

Thank YOU Sir.

But you get to see all the hot babes in ATL traffic!

Some notes from the Toyota parts world:

1. Always note that interior components that are colored brown/tan/ivory will always discontinue FIRST before any interior colors that are gray/blue-gray/black. Historical Toyota note on that.

2. Getting parts for non-US vehicles (7x series for example) will be significantly harder and will take much longer due to the red tape that Toyota has placed operationally and institutionally within their own supply systems for these parts. While the part might be "live" --i.e., it is a good number in the North American market--it might not necessarily be available to US dealers and parts suppliers for market-specified reasons: "non-import part", truck was never available in the US market hence part is not available for sale.

Sometimes, it looks like I can get a part. I will submit the order and within 24-48 hours Toyota decides whether to fill the request or not. At that point, I have two options:

A. I can submit required paper work for the part release (NHTSA paper work, import paperwork, etc.). Then the long process begins to get your $20 part. Sometimes up to 2-3 months to get the part released to a dealer.

B. I can go around Toyota in the US and just order the part from Japan. At that point, I will need to recontact you and get you a new price reflecting currency exchange rates and shipping fees from Japan to the US.

Unfortunately, that's the nature of the game we play trying to procure difficult to get parts from Toyota. They don't make it easy.

For example, 42601-60262-03 7x gray spoke 16" steel rims. These used to be readily available. Now Toyota is making us do all sorts of crazy stupid things to get this part. I ordered a set for a client at the beginning of October. It has taken me 1 month to get 4 of these rims in. Still waiting on #5. Even though supply shows plenty in the US market.

Just a really sucky way to do business. You would think that Toyota would want to SELL parts... Not hinder people getting them (for whatever their regulatory/compliance/market agreement reasons are).

Even when the proper NHTSA HS7 and US Customs import documents are supplied TMS USA and TMC may or MAY NOT agree to supply the requested parts. It took me 4 months to get tail lamps for my BJ74........

Currently, I have not set up a supplier agreement with a Lexus supplier but that is in the works. I'll post up here if/when I can. Lexus is much more finicky about how they do what they do.

Thanks.

Any update on this?

Negative Tom. Lexus plays a much more "aggressive" form of wholesale purchasing. Requirements and some other BS hoops that I am trying to figure out how to by-pass.

IIRC, I would check with @cruiserdan but I think the Larry H Miller Lexus store in Murray, Utah provides some parts discount. Confirm that with Dan.

Maybe shift your hours a little and create a reverse commute (reverse of everyone else) to pick up parts the moment the place opens or just before close.

Supplier does not have parts ready till early-mid afternoon. So I can't do anything before then. Then you get stuck in evening commute routes and hassles. Then the whole shipping aspect would be screwed up. I'm already shipping well into the wee- hours of the early morning.

It is unfortunately the cost of doing business in ATL.

Maybe then pick up the parts that are ready mid afternoon first thing the next morning. Leave early enough and be waiting when the door opens. Obviously there might be a part shipping delay by one day but then again it's mail order already in your line of work. Anything you can do to make the trip(s) during a traffic free time will greatly increase your productivity. Just some thoughts as I don't 100% know all the details. I work odd shifts at my job simply because I hate fighting traffic if I don't really have to.

Easier said than done with the unfortunate logistical situation I have. Maybe one day when I have employs I won't quite have to worry about it.

I'd rather deal with traffic than employee issues......just say'n.

That looks like ATL traffic every time I've been there, regardless of time of day, weekday or weekend.

He should hire a hot coed to drive a big box truck (mobile warehouse) so he could fill orders in the back while he's stuck in traffic.

This is just the plain crazy world we live in. There doesn't seem to be any trouble importing say Heroin, but Toyota truck parts...
will definitely lead to harder drugs like OLD truck parts. Start cravings for old Diesel parts when you have hit rock bottom.:smokin:

Check me into rehab then... Three cruisers and two are diesels. Plus I have a spare 13BT just sitting on the shelf... Just in case. Intervention time?
