Admitting something is only one step of the process.

Denying it or accepting it is the next move.

At a certain point in life, stability of cause and effect is worthwhile to dial down. Land Cruisers do this.

Stability of cause is inherently important for the human psyche. Land Cruisers do this.

Understanding one's place in the world is important. Land Cruisers do this.

A true notion of love is found when the source of happiness is discovered, understood and positioned as a framework for viewing the world. Land Cruisers do this.

Well all, I'm back doing what I love to do:

Looking up part numbers, talking part numbers, finding part numbers, thinking part numbers, eating part numbers, breathing part numbers, memorizing part numbers, feeling part numbers, touching them, and taking pictures of them.

After a brief sojourn to clear my head and get out of the corporate rat race, I am back doing what I love to do best: Getting every one the parts they need for their Toyota Land Cruisers. I am devoting myself to this venture 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week for all of your Toyota Land Cruiser part needs.

Instead of being associated with a dealership, I have decided to go out on my own and "make bread out of rocks" (old Turkish proverb--for those of you that know me).

Contact methods:

1. This thread.
2. Email: onurazeri1@gmail.com (best for parts quotes and part orders)
3. Phone call: 505.944.5081 (best for parts/technical questions)

I'm now a one-man operation. So I do ask that you give me a bit of patience when ordering parts, wanting quotes. Also, please provide full vehicle information, especially if we are dealing with non-US iterations (market, year, engine serial number, etc.)

Quote turn around: 1-2 business days (best case scenario--I am unfortunately not amazon.com or an on-line store)

Beyond doing OEM New Toyota parts, I will also be developing a nascent area of need that I see in the Land Cruiser market which is consulting on part procurement, truck builds, restorations, referrals to other vendors that I have developed strong relationships with, referrals to shops and mechanics, and general technical information for your Toyota Land Cruiser.

Hope to be able to assist all of my good clients and customers as I have for a number of years now.

I look forward to connecting and talking about your Land Cruisers and I hope to see you on the trail in the near future.

Be well.

I just wanted to send some praise towards Onur and his new business venture. I recently ordered the Terrain Tammer front axle rebuild kit and was extremely happy with the product. Onur had the kit sitting on my door step 48 hours after purchase. Impressive. Thanks for helping me get my Cruiser back on the road.

Keep up the awesome work Onur:beer:

Some notes from the Toyota parts world:
.........

Unfortunately, that's the nature of the game we play trying to procure difficult to get parts from Toyota. They don't make it easy.

Just a really sucky way to do business. You would think that Toyota would want to SELL parts... Not hinder people getting them (for whatever their regulatory/compliance/market agreement reasons are).

Here is a great article to understanding the shifting parts procurement sands at TMC at a local and global level.Toyota Shakes Up a Japanese Tradition

Thanks for sharing these comments Onur. People in our community need to know how hard you and other resellers work to make up for the dysfunction and inefficiencies of the very large organizations that control our access to important service, repair and accessory components for the vehicles we love.

Toyota seems to be confused and/or conflicted when it comes to serving regional markets like ours. You would think they would want to reduce efficiencies in distribution to maximize sales, profits, etc. - just as they are changing their production partnerships as discussed in the article. As the owner of three Land Cruisers that were never sold in North America, I have only survived through the kindness of guys like you, Dave Steadman, Joe Katana, Akella, Cruiserparts, Amayama and even sellers on eBay.au - sourcing parts that Toyota will not sell me.

There was a time when the Japanese way of doing things worked well for everyone's interests (except Detroit's) but things change. When Georg and I decided to become importers and wholesalers, it was (in part) due to the discovery that our new Australian partners have been "smart-sourcing" OEM equivalent parts, kits and accessories for five decades.

There was also a time when "just buy OEM" or "just buy Japanese" was the right solution, but not so much anymore. Japanese manufacturers are global suppliers and global consumers. Smart retailers and their partners need to do the same.

One benefit of working with OEM manufacturers outside of the Toyota environment (as Terrain Tamer does) is that there are opportunities to work with those firms to improve on what Toyota defined as the correct solution for a given part and function. I am not selling Terrain Tamer here, just saying that there are different sources and solutions for a given need.

How often do you see a guy buying OEM shocks, springs, shackles, etc. for his rig? Probably not so much due to configuration (lift, capacity, range of motion/articulation, function, ride quality and optional equipment), price and availability. The market demands choice and that's what ARB, Ironman, Terrain Tamer and others provide.

The question is, how to get non-North American parts that Toyota apparently doesn't want to sell here?

Their answer might well be to scrap the BJ73 and buy a new Tacoma. Well.......no.

EDIT: I was remiss in failing to mention Toyota parts professionals like Cruiser Dan Busey that work the system to help meet our non-NA needs. Sorry, guys :)

The fact of the matter remains that Toyota is resistant to support gray market vehicles--regardless of whether they are in the US legally or not (which in our case is that they are here legally).

Developing new methods of parts procurement is going to be the only way to sustain what is--for many people I know in the cruiser world--a way of life. Not a hobby or a passing fancy, but a lens through which to make sense of the world.

For someone like @cruiserdan or myself, we pride ourselves on knowing part numbers, how they change, why they change, what the change in a part number means materially in the ostensive world, as well as knowing how things fit and why.

We might not have all the correct answers all the time (and if we don't we say so and find out what the correct answer is) but when we are wrong we learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

For a number of years now, @cruiserdan and I have been sending emails back and forth with part numbers so that we can develop a deeper vocabulary in understanding the structural Toyota parts logic. We have a number of spreadsheets going that we share with each other so that we do have the correct information. As you all know, there are literally thousands of different iterations of Toyota Land Cruisers worldwide over the past 70+ years.

Toyota themselves understand that making things in Japan just won't work in the long run in a globalized manufacturing and procurement world.

For example, most all leaf springs that Toyota sells in most world markets are either manufactured in Thailand or Mexico.

For example, most all accessories are manufactured in China or Mexico.

For example, more and more hard components (formerly Japanese manufactured parts) are now being outsourced to local, regional manufacturing. Thus when a tsunami hits or an earthquake there will be no bottle neck in one position and parts procurement and manufacturing can continue unabated in other parts of the world to fulfill demand.
