He said roughly $1200-2k. 12-20 hours of work

Luckily since he's a friend of mine I'll just steal him and have him guide me for the DIY lol, still much cheaper than I was thinking
If we could line up all the east coast guys and get that set up with hard dates I would be all in.
I’ve not found a shop in my area that I would allow to cut a giant hole in my Troopy.

Ok, I'm out. Thank you so much for doing this, it's a great great deal for someone who wants this. It's not going to work for me because I really want to retain the functionality for the most part of the stock inside.
All good. Good luck with your build!

I've seen videos of the Alu-Cab installs. ASPW has a video of him cutting the roof off his troopy with pneumatic shears.
Do you loose that much space with Alucab?
I think maybe an just a little bit less than the alu-innovations. Their top sits a little higher because of the way it's built.

The alu-innovations hugs the contours of the top of the troopy a little more. But plenty of space with the roof up obviously. No complaints about interior height from either video I saw.

You're ordering in November?

I'm interested... not committed. I've got some other irons in the fire (I currently "own" too many Land Cruisers) that if they work out I may move to committed.

Yes. Ordering in November. Price goes up 1 December.

This price is too good to pass up, even if I have to pay for air freight myself.

Hopefully your other cruisers work out!

Have been ogling Headspace’s conversion lately but prior to them coming to market Alu-Innovations was my favorite. At this price, however, I would be a fool not to jump in. Consider me extremely interested, and thanks for organizing! I’m on the central California coast between Monterey and San Francisco.

I'll put you down!

@tmarx Just because you can fit more inside of it?
Then I would never again have to worry about making up the bed, before leaving for the next destination :hillbilly:

Seriously it allows more bedding for you guys in cold climates. We hardly ever see snow but you lot do so I would go for that option. Also it allows you to fit a thicker/medical overlay type mattress for the heavier set folks, if you get my drift. My wife and I are short and light but we had Cass do the overlay to our mattress and it sleeps better than my bed at home.

I’d love to see more pics of the high top version, but I see any on his website.

These are what he sent me. 295mm above the gutter rails in height.

Different top but similar overall design of the Alu-* poptops. Interesting part is from 0:40 to 4:00.

You can see the headroom for the standard rear seats WITH 8cm custom extension of the height of the roof.

Seems nowadays every poptop builder copy the Alucab overall design but back in the days (<2015) there were multiple Australian and European builders that offered poptop that fully retained the stock headroom (some were even only cutting a giant sunroof instead of cutting at gutter level).

If diy something it will be a "sunroof" design adding to the *closed" headroom and popping up to allow standing. Sleeping down below, not up top.

We think alike. Although my wife would rather I have a pop top troopy than what I have 🤔
Keeper! My wife won't ride in my troopy because "it has no safety features or airbags".

Now I only let the dog ride shotgun

Ohhhhh….I like that one for the space and interior latches!!

We had the eurovan poptop and she loved the poptop until well, somone crashed it (wasn’t my fault) but combining the poptop and a troopy would technically meet both our needs…brilliant!
