I collected my Troop from Cass today. If we could do it all over again, I would have gone for the new extra 50 mm higher roof.It still retains the classic troopy lines ...
@tmarx can you post some pictures? Can you take some measurements as well? You're one of the only people I know on here that have an Alu-Innovations Kronos!

Why would you have gone for the higher roof? Just because you can fit more inside of it?

That said I’m curious when the time comes who will actually pony up the money. People tend to jump on the wagon and bail when commitment comes due.
Onur calls us fickle :hillbilly:

i'm not going to string prwillard along like that, i told him i will think it over and i have, i'm in love with the factory lines on the Troopy and just cant alter it for something that isnt really benefiting me, so, i am out.

All good! I am buying one regardless, just wanted to get a deal for anyone else.

Good luck with all you do on your Troopy!

its just a toy for me to bomb around the forest, go to remote fishing spots, take me rockhounding and camping.

i have another rig with a poptop for when the wife wants to tag along and travel.

i think you will like having the poptop, its so easy, and comfy.

Lol. I’m pretty fickle myself!!

I like the higher ridged line of the Alucab, but their price is $$$$.

Looks like you'll want the 50mm "hi top" version!

I'm sure there is one between Ft. Benning (are you Army) and New York!
I have a friend in Asheville NC who works at a shop that has done 2 alucabs in the past. Could ask him more about if anyone is interested.
What port would work best for the East Coast?
Obviously for me it would work best if it was shipped to Wilmington, where I live… a port city lol. All the east coasters can get together and figure out what would be the most fair for everyone. Then again I'm the only east coaster to be 100% on board

If they are shipped here I’m willing to drive them out to people or meet people half way or whatever they would want… or if they end up being shipped up to a northern port I could try to bring as many as I could further south to make it easier for anyone else to come get.

1. The warning that a DIY install may be ill advised - finding someone that has done these before plus that additional cost will be an issue)
This would be a concern for me. Not sure anyone around me has ever done this which means I’d have to send the Troopy and top up North-ish were most 70series shops are. I was considering DIY until the guy said it wasn’t advised and he’s seen jobs that ruined the rig.

I’d like to hear install cost.

I’d like to hear install cost.
He said roughly $1200-2k. 12-20 hours of work

Luckily since he's a friend of mine I'll just steal him and have him guide me for the DIY lol, still much cheaper than I was thinking

Fit Garage in Bend Oregon charges 1500-2500 for an Alu-Cab install. Would figure it would be the same for Alu Innovations

I watched the videos and frankly I'm "worried" about 2 things...

2. The lower headroom when the top is closed (vs stock AND vs the Alu-Cab)
I will work to see if Cassiem can get us detailed instructions. But again, you could ruin your troopy self installing an Alu-Cab too.

You'll lose 3 or 4 inches in the back with the pop top just because of the way they work.

Let us know about instructions, videos, etc.

You go first and I'll follow. I'm in if this comes to fruition.
I'd be willing to come help and show you how to do it once I do it. Only issue is I have ALOT of rust repair to do before I even think about installing the top... I'm talking windshield, gutters, etc. Wishfully thinking I'd have it installed halfway through the summer after welding the entire upper half on my troopy... would like to reiterate that's wishfully thinking.

However, that being said if I'm one of the first to do it before anyone else who wants to DIY it and others don't mind waiting I could make an in depth video on how I did it, what to do and not do. As for it coming to fruition... all I need is to sell my Mercedes wagon in the next month or two. Also have backup funds saved after the fact incase for some reason it doesn't sell...

Ok, I'm out. Thank you so much for doing this, it's a great great deal for someone who wants this. It's not going to work for me because I really want to retain the functionality for the most part of the stock inside.

Do you loose that much space with Alucab?
