Can’t wait to see the bumpers powdered and lights installed!

What roof rack set up you running?

It's been a long time at powder coat. Or at least, feels like an eternity. I have a lot of tapping, splicing, and wiring to do when I get it back.

I'm running a Sherpa Oxford rack, but removed most of it so I could examine my sunroof leak a little closer. I ended up getting the textured black powder coat stripped and ended up taking the side rails and the front wind fairing to powder coat with a different color. Was a little circus involving that process, got in an argument with some cheap, unprofessional folks because they sand-blasted aluminum and performed a terrible job. So there some pitting and stuff that the 2nd group of powder coaters tried to correct, but it's not perfect. Chemical stripping would've been preferred.

Man that’s a bummer. I believe Sherpa used to offer the Oxford in clear anodized finish - saw a YouTube video with one but it looks like it’s no longer an option on their site. Like most things now, it used to be cheaper and you could pick your color hardware

It’s all good - it’ll still work and now you won’t have to cringe when you scratch it up

Yea, they no longer offer the raw aluminum finish (yea, apparently it's just raw - I asked) but oh well. I could've just ordered that in the beginning before they quit offering it, but I've changed my mind so many times with this 100, it's beginning to annoy me.

Front and rear bumpers finally done. I pick it up tomorrow. Been itching pretty hard to go camping, now I have to get a bunch of wiring to get done and reinstall the Sherpa rack.

The time away from the LX had me thinking of going to another tire size.

My latest update to my 100 series that no one likes: failed to take pics of the rear bumper in detail, but worked on the front. Got the turn signals going, pods and lightbar mounted and wired up.

Have made a lot of choices on this 100 series and have strayed away from the "classic" aesthetic. All I can say is "oh well" :smokin:

I love the look of this truck, it's very unique! Love the bumpers, too!

@choyota not sure if you’re fishing for compliments or really doubt your build decisions but I agree with @Exiled - this truck is refreshingly original and the build out looks like it’s going to be quite capable / functional

There is a much smaller offering for aftermarket support in the 100 community. Only so many ways you can dress them up and I think most will agree that we can get “bored” with the “classic” builds

While I try to limit using the word regret, I certainly have made custom purchases that didn’t work out as envisioned, it comes with the territory of hoping your ideas get fully communicated to the builder

I think over time I began to appreciate the classic appearance a bit more, and understand why people like it. There are some things I wish that were different, but I kinda just stuck to the original intended "appearance" more or less. I think I'm under the assumption if people don't have nice things to say, they are mostly not saying them. Whenever I post something up here, I imagine a tumbleweed blowing across the desert.

BUT...

I appreciate the positive feedback I do get. If I go more into detail about certain things, show some actual DIY or whatever the case may be, probably would generate some form of response, so I get how things work around here LOL.

Went camping. Took a dice-roll with the light grey PC on the roofrack. Unsure about it and currently thinking of the next move (delete or strip and PC). Rear end sags like crazy and need to upgrade springs. Front is pretty oversprung. Loaded up and 4-speed Auto on the freeway was a bad experience. Probably need to re-gear as well. It never ends.

Glad to see you enjoying it vs building it. Consider it a shake down run to see what works and what doesn’t

This build is sick! Love these LXs and randomly found it while considering a Nguyen Works rear for my GX.

Thanks. I haven't really posted much in here for a few months. A lot of changes happened or is happening: front and rear lockers, regear, storage reorganization, a 2k mile trip along the pacific coast, and this weekend getting trimmed up for some 37s. Forgot what else I did....

Heck yeah, keep em coming! Love following a cool fellow so cal rig. Always wanted one of these LXs. 37s would be gnarly, can't wait to see.

You mightve inspired me to actually post my build thread finally.

One thing I'm working on is my rear setup. I used to have some pretty good drawers from HR Woodworks, but decided to sell them to cut down on weight. I also didn't like how high I ended up sleeping, as I sleep in my 100 when I camp. I need to actually sit up and have some headroom for a little comfort (i.e changing into my Spider Man pajamas). I lose out on overall area since I'm dealing with wheel wells now, as well as losing cleaner organization, but I'll deal with it. I had HR Woodworks create a "gear panel" and sleeping platform. The sleeping platform I'll need to add legs to, and I made my own shelf using aluminum extrusion pieces (1010b) to mount the Powertank, add another level for storage, and to mount things to. I have a Universal Molle panel coming to mount to the side of the shelf.

NOTE: I have a new Powertank with regulator flip and snorkel, so horizontal mounting is OK (not pictured).
NOTE#2: I deleted the 60 of the 60/40 split 2nd row so the sleeping platform could work.
