I think they've gone silly by banning it over such an obscure meaning... Goes to show what a joke the whole personalised plates business is in..

Yeah, I know it's 'vain' having a vanity plate, and it goes against my cheap-skate nature (its an extra $30 annually to have vanity plates) but I thought I'd splurge on this one. 2-O JA is available though. 2 O is the county designation for Owyhee, and JA is something vulgar...

BTW, I looked up Oilburner (slang for a diesel (I thought)) and it is slang for a crack or hash pipe.

FU DMV is an available plate.

I can bring the emblem, just trade me for one of the others you have.

Don't worry about it, I found another one on Ebay yesterday and it's on it's way, but thanks for the offer.

Not much progress lately, went to Moab last week mountain biking, saw this at the end of Porcupine Rim ride. I think they were from France. I didn't chat too long, just asked if I could snap a photo.

I got a Supra shifter knob and installed...it's the little things.

Pulled the top off tonight, so I could fold the windshield down to fish the pig-tail through for the wiper motor. I had it the wires sorted (someone has previously spliced different color wire onto the pigtail) , had a slow, fast and park...pulled some correct colored wire out of the donor harness, butt-connected, heat shrunk (is that a word?) , electrical taped, put some new blade-connectors on and...slow is super slow, fast is slow and no park...did I mention I hate wiring?

I took it out around the block again and don't think the gearing is too bad (high) now. Also, plugging the 'numbers' ( choosing the tranny/tcase/gearing/tire combo) into this calculator I found on the inter-webs, I get 2000 rpm @65 mph, which sounds just about perfect. I may not change to 4.11's ...check that off the 'to-do' list.

Received my temporary tags this week, added it to my insurance and took it up to get the exhaust done yesterday. Hopefully get it back today.

Got it up to about 52 mph (according to my Garmin) and it has a pretty serious death wobble. No front shocks or steering stabilizer though.

I could not find a picture of the stock exhaust routing, just a parts-catalogue view. Not sure how the shop's going to end up doing it, I'd like to keep the rear area (where the spare tire mounts) clear for a future aux tank. Anyone put their muffler outside the frame between the body and frame, forward of the rear tire?

Not real happy with the exhaust, it'll do for now. They took it outside the frame on the passenger's side then back over to the driver's side then laid a hugh-jass muffler diagonally across the back.

Seems like they could have crossed over under the bell housing and stayed inside the frame, put a shorter muffler in aft of the gas tank on the driver's side then gone over the axle and exited behind the driver's side rear wheel...maybe next time.

Here's a video of it with the new exhaust, not sure how the google-drive thing works...I think I 'shared' it.

Thanks!

I fabbed some tail light brackets, took me forever, ran out of O2, had to go get my tank filled...first one took half the day, and looks like s***, second one took an hour and looks pretty good.

Oh well, saved myself $1200 (what I was going to spend on the Metaltech bumper with tail light pockets)

Managed to get the tail lights wired up today, also sorted out the turn signals, there was a miswire on one of the front signals, also two of the front signal wires were cut as well as the license plate illumination wires. Found the wire for the back-up lights, didn't get them hooked up, but tested and they work.

Found the plug for the tach, hooked it up (temporarily) and it works...just need to fab a bracket for it and run the wires permanently.

Pretty productive weekend all-in-all. Even managed to get the wife, dog and kid in it and go to dinner. My 17-year-old, said about halfway to dinner "it hasn't broken down yet!" such confidence...

I love that Diesel badge.. they chose the perfect font and size.. looks tough. :)

No worries. I think the miswire was me. I put that bib on, it's hard to tell a solid green wire from a green/black stripe wire, when it's 30-years old and dirty.

Got my shock hoops from Low Range Off-Road, should be able to get them installed this weekend.
