Tyler,

To provide perspective for you. Custom made dog crate. I think it is ~23" wide but as you can see the top/corners were mitered to allow it to fit.

Hello all,
I'm looking into importing a 100 series or LX 470 into canada in the next month or so. The wife and I need a larger SUV than our current 02 grand cherokee. Its getting up in miles and always has something wrong with it. One criteria we had for our new SUV is the size of the rear cargo area behind the second row. It needs to be 4 feet wide at its narrowest and 3 feet long behind the 2nd row. We will be permanently removing the 3rd row. The goal is to get two dog crates length ways side by side. The crates are about 24" wide 28"high and 36" long. I havn't seen a 470 in person but did look at the newer 570. It was sure nice. The trouble on it was the power 3rd row wasn't removable.

Next questions is what year to get. It seems like 06 and 07 are best since they have the boosted HP numbers. The competitors for the spot in the garage are and 1st gen sequoia, 2nd gen sequoia, Nissan Armada, and the suburbans. Comments on those truck are appreciated as well.

How many miles can you put on these truck before running into troubles? We'll be in this one for life and I'm hoping it last just like the old cruisers. Any best spots or areas to look for these units. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the US.

Thanks for answering the questions.

Tyler

If you use the plastic break down kennels and get 2 of them to fit, we do. The plastic breakdown style are narrower at the top and bottom and will fit tight between the wheel wells.

What is a 1999-2000 with 210,000 miles worth? All stock, fair condition. A bank here is trying to sell one for $6500. Just wondering if it's a good deal. The high miles are a little scary though.

Sounds like a great deal if mechanically solid. Miles aren't a big deal if it's been maintained.

1. 98 with 120k white with tan...the timing belt was done at 90k...no idea about water pump or anything else...price 10-11k

I've got no idea where you live, but where I'm at, the '98 with no rear AC wasn't even an option worth looking at...

Here is an update on the Land Cruiser I posted about earlier. It is a 1999 with 210,000 miles. I drove it and it seems to be very tight, run great, and the brakes feel great, but the check engine light is on and the ABS light is on. The front windshield has a crack. The keyfob is broken and separating from the key. It has the locking rear differential. I took some pictures with my iphone and am posting a link to the gallery. It belonged to a commercial real-estate agent, and the bank is asking $6500, but it has been hinted that they will accept less. I feel like this is either a GREAT deal, or something that will explode in my face! Should I just get it and hope for the best???

holy bird s*** :flipoff2:

If I was looking at 100's and that came across the table I would run. I'm sorry to say but that thing looks like it's been neglected in everyday possible. The owner or dealership didn't even have the courtesy to rinse bird s*** off the paint (which is very bad for paint by the way) before you came and looked at it. That's me, but then again I can't stand cars that are broken (not that mine is perfect) and have parts missing (which I would assume your removing the fender flares anyways)...

I kind of feel the same way, and I really want an 04+...but at 1/5th the price for esentially the same truck, I thought this might be a fun project!

Find a project you can upgrade and make better. Not spend money to take it back to its original condition. Find a well taken care of 98 or 99 and be done with the replacing stuff that should be working. Who knows what else is about to go at 210K...

Although 6500K is a bangin' price!

$250 for the windshield
$25 for a new fob on e-bay
$75 for a new key on e-bay (assuming you'll only get one)
$several hundred - guessing - for the driver's door switch panel and any missing electronics
$ ?? for the CEL - go to Autozone and have 'em pull the code if you don't want to cough up $40 for a code reader at Harbor Freight.
The fender flares are gay anyway, and will get ripped off as soon as you do any wheeling...

If it were me? I'd hand 'em $4500 cash and tell them to take it or leave it.

I just don't see how I can pass it up...the price is now $5000, or it goes to auction. If everything goes OK, I'll post pics tomorrow...without the bird****. :D

Dang, for $5K I say get. If you don't like something about it you can sell it for more than what you paid if not break even easy.

It's bank owned, therefore in storage while DMV and legal paperwork is completed.

Pick one.

Although 6500K is a bangin' price!

It is.

I'd still buy it...

I still would.

Buy the fawking thing.

If it has an engine that runs and a tranny that shifts, BUY IT.

x infinity,

Yes.

well for 4500 bucks id buy it too! I changed my mind after thinking about replacement parts.

Liar, you would have paid $6,500 if you looked at it.

$120 for the windshield , call around
$25 for a new fob on e-bay true
$75 for a new key on e-bay true
$325 for the driver's door switch panel and any missing electronics
$ CEL - Spend an hours diag time for Toyota to diag and inspect.

The fender flares are gay anyway, and will get ripped off as soon as you do any wheeling... You will need to have it replaced as the wear into the paint as seen.[/QUOTE]

Spend $850 on carpet
$1,100 on new leather.

ABS light could be a hub or ABS module.

Mine has 200k and runs like an '07 with 20k and I do this for a living.

Anybody got a line on a 100 series in the Pac NW (AATLAS?)? In the market... for a bargain of course... We want to replace the wife's '03 MDX, with a 100 series and a cheap/fun commuter like a E30 BMW.
