I thought I was high personally..

Not a lucky person so not even going to take a guess.

Bought my FJ62 back in 93 and found out at that time the recall had been done. Personally if I had a 60/62 I wanted to keep and knew it hadn't had the recall done I would search for one out of a vehicle I knew had been done and document where it came from by the VIN and also I had changed it. Here in AZ if you can find one in a junkyard it's probably pretty rust free. Take pictures to prove the condition of donor cruiser. I'm sure Toyota wouldn't like this since with a replacement tank proven to be in good shape they wouldn't be totally off the hook. Lawyers go after the deepest pockets. Toyota could claim it was installed incorrectly but with the fuel pump in the tank and no excess panel in the floor (poor design on their part) to replace it removing and reinstalling the tank isn't that uncommon. In the time I've had my FJ62 I replaced the fuel pump twice. Buying a used tank will be out of your own pocket but you will end up with a replacement tank and peace of mind it has been changed.

As for inspecting the undercarriage I think that is to see the condition of the frame as to their offer. Why would they care about removing the spare tire and looking at the tank since they have no plan on replacing. It's not like they would inspect the tank and said it's okay. Just my .02

KGB007, where are you located?

sorry everyone i have been in the field im in the army i have not been able to call but when i did call they told me they would pay what i paid for it if i had a bill of sale for it. But i have not called back yet

There's a couple threads going right now that are really bumming me out - this is one. The other is the list of dying OEM parts.

The idea that Toyota doesn't value these classic, robust and well engineered trucks totally sucks a$$.

Ironic that the rest of the world seems to be finally catching on to how cool the 60 series trucks really are.

I'm saying $25,000 'cause I saw some fool listed one on EBay for that price!

I Agee!
I went to my local Toyota dealer and gave them this scenario. Just out of curiousty. I'm not looking to have it bought back but throwing out a hypothetical to them. I caught the parts managers and the service managers attention on this. Toyota rep is visiting them in the first week of October. I want to see what they come up with on a vehicle that still hadn't done the recall.
I will keep you posted and try too update as quickly as possible.
This thread caught my curiousity as well.

Thank you for your service.

Your vehicle has probably appreciated since you bought it; tell them that what you paid for it is irrelevant, what matters is what the vehicle is worth now.
