There's a couple threads going right now that are really bumming me out - this is one. The other is the list of dying OEM parts.

The idea that Toyota doesn't value these classic, robust and well engineered trucks totally sucks a$$.

Ironic that the rest of the world seems to be finally catching on to how cool the 60 series trucks really are.

I'm saying $25,000 'cause I saw some fool listed one on EBay for that price!

Look at the bright side, it just makes all those 60s you have worth more! Thats a fact.

so i call again them friday and they now dont know anything about them calling me they have no record of it or anything so i will have to call them again tomorrow.

So after calling and now ppl dont know where my case is and how it is with. called around for about a hour and now. they are telling me that i need to have a bill of sale and that is how they are going to pay me for my truck. they the lady one the phone keep saying the same thing and i said what are we going to do about this and she is have her boss call me.

From the information i got fro my Toyota parts Dealer here in CA. I was told that they would Reimburse you for a aftermarket replacement tank. So i guess if you replace it with a long range tank that are sold for these rigs that would be suffice.
So then i went and spoke to the Service Manager of this dealer ship and he is going to meet with the Toyota Reps at the beginning of the October. and will get a more definite answer. Seems this topic is a quite a thinker.
They also doubt Toyota will buy back your rig! and if they did it wont be for going rate of what they sell now!
Will SEE!!

Man, every person that is spoken to at Toyota says something different. I know for a fact that they buy back good 60s for over 7k. Ive seen the printed offer on a Toyota letterhead.

I say, if you don't like what one guy tells you, call up someone different. Like any gigantic corporation, nobody really knows what the hell is going on or what all policies are.

Not to highjack the thread but.... How do I verify if this recall was done on a vehicle? I put the VIN in to the toyota website and its says "No active recalls". That could be interpreted more than one way. Recall done or recall too old and we dont care about it anymore?

Is there any physical difference with the replacement tanks?

"No active recalls" means exactly that. Any recall issued against that VIN has been performed. An "active" recall would remain so even if there are no parts left to do it.

perfect. Thank you sir one less thing to worry about for today.

I just typed my vin into the toyota recall site. Sure enough. It has never been done. It actually states that there is a remedy. I have a 60. I wonder what percentage of 62's got the tank replaced. Sorry for the hijack.
Well your situation will be interesting because you have a 60. The 60 tank and associated parts are available, so I wonder if they will fix it or attempt the buy back.

Fix.

I said it before in a previous post:

I know a mud member (we pm'ed) who had a nice 60 (not 62) that had the old tank still installed. It was a nice cruiser but not a restored vehicle and had the original engine and stuff.

He contacted Toyota about the tank and they offered to fix it (since the 60 tank parts were still available) OR buy the cruiser back. This happened only a few months ago.

Their offer was over 7k.
He took it.

Anyone want proof?
