Safe travels!

Looks like you are doing it right! Have a great time enjoying the Baja peninsula, and take lots of pictures; looking back on my trips thru Central America and Chiapas, Oaxaca, etc. now is so much fun as: every picture tell a story!
I am 10 minutes east of Cabo San Lucas right off the hi-way corridor above a surf spot/bar/hotel named Zippers and Costa Azul. It is just before entering the town of Cabo San Jose, and just after Cabo San Lucas. It's more laid back here versus the tourist scene in San Lucas, but it's growing like everywhere else.
Hope all goes great, and if you have troubles shoot me a message. I have aMexican phone too;624-172-6616 should you need it. Will try and follow you on the Portal. Enjoy.

what color to paint Nulla?

having a great time in Baja here is our link on expedition portal Baja Nov 2011 follow our trip there, we are also looking for suggestions for the drive back.

we thought this is also good time to ask an important questions, what color should we paint Nulla? we have already gotten many comment telling us not to paint it, in fact one day a total stranger knocked on our door at home an told us "do not paint it, it is perfect now" we are open to it. but if we do paint it let us know what color, we are totally wide open for suggestions. let us know what you think, here are some pictures below......

a color that is unattractive to theives...
flat black, flat white, flat olive green, flat desert tan... make it still look old, maybe stick on rust stickers...

I vote Cygnus white. If nothing else, so much time and love has gone into this truck, save it from the rust. The fender plating should also be re-cut for more complete coverage.

My two cents.

 on an awesome build

Wayne is on the money here. A flat, or satin olive, tan or grey would look good, but not shiny. Scratch the grey, it would be too close to the camper (which I assume you intend to leave in bare aluminum). tan or olive, would be my vote.

I think it looks absolutely rad the way it is, but if you're going to go visit those parts of the world, it looks like a heavily modified (with valuable parts) truck that is missing only the paint job. Put the paint on it, give it a few miles, and it'll look well maintained, but not all THAT special to the untrained eye.

still in baja

thanks, all very helpful. i think i agree that flat is the way to go! we are still in baja, spent the nite in playa tecolote. you can follow us on expedition portal.

A flat version of t-453 green would look great. Keep the pics of adventures coming

homemade spare tire hoist

to free up space under the floor board i moved the spare tire under the Nulla. it is a bit of a compromise because it lowered the "angle clearance" in the rear but i think it will be ok i have rear air bags so i can always raise the rear if i need more clearance. on the good side, it created lot's of space under the floor board and further lowered the center of gravity of Nulla.

Building an expedition rig is all about various compromises IMHO.

I remember reading this a couple of years ago when you started. I wasn't sure where you were going with it. I now have converted my 60 to 12H-T, and my 40 soon-to-be 13B-T. This is way cooler than I possibly imagined! When the world ends - this truck will still be running. Congratulations on everything.

:hhmm: My idea for painting - scuff and cover in clear. Done.

The best part of this whole string is the 10,000 + miles it's been driven all the while. :steer:

stove on a slide

thank you all for great encouragement "rubber skid plate" that is a great one. here is a stove that slides out from the rear compartment of the Nulla. more to come.......
