Turbo or Supercharger , turbo or supercharger, turbo or supercharger... I think a 3rd option should be @yodaTEQ burrito warmer for the more sophisticated 80 owner (read ODB1) . Fast, fast, fast is no match for slow cooked meat and veg. It's even worth idling while your spotter finds a nice line just for that extra roast...sweet..

How many hours to get it cooked?

How many hours to get it cooked?

I typically loaded the tray at breakfast time and it was ready by lunch. So long as you are moving nothing seems to get overcooked or dried out. I quickly learned that the frozen burrito concept was a waste of time. Fresh food with good ingredients worked a treat. Over the journey, i tried hot dogs, chicken, lamb chops and even burgers. The meats like chicken, lamb and burgers didn't colour like they would on a grill but still tasted really good - just didn't look too appetizing.

Any chance we'll get to see this thing running any time soon? I know there's no time-table for the kit, but I figured the beta rig might be running. Just need a little turbo porn.

I've been looking at the gauge configurations of some of the turbo cruisers here and I'm trying to come up with something to avoid an A pillar pod. Might do two individual gauge cups on either side of the trans tunnel near the bottom of the dash.

Current thinking is an AEM failsafe for wideband and boost and a 4 channel temperature gauge for trans temp, oil temp and intake temp. Maybe intake air temp sensors pre/post intercooler eventually. I don't want to clutter things up with individual temp gauges, so a 4 in 1 might be the way to go.

I came across this 4 channel aircraft cht egt gauge that is compatible with several different types of thermocouples. They sell oil temp senders that should be peace pipe compatible.

The Sensor Connection EGT Probes Motorsports Sensors and Gauges

Curious if anyone has used this 4 channel gauge in a cruiser before.

^^^ IDK about those, but link to the main page for PLX / scroll display units & other solutions:

My rig came with a single EGT gauge on the A pillar. I didn’t like it there at first, but it kinda grew on me. A friend offered me a 2 hole pillar pod, so I grabbed s combo vacuum/ boost gauge for $20 at H F. It really seems to work well. Right next to the grab handle on the A pillar, it is pretty easy to glance over at it to see if I am being a good boy and staying OUT of boost. My Ulyra gauge is between the dash vents just right of the factor cluster, so it is comfortable to sweep my vision down off the road and scan. All of the gauges in one smooth sweep. When I am wheeling, I run my Toughbook full of maps just right if the Ultragauge. It’s just below the top of the dash, so still quick n easy to get eyes up on the road.

I have 2 gauges down in the trans tunnel and I don't find them as useful as I would like. Taking your eyes off the road, to try and watch boost and AFR is not ideal. Fine for trouble shooting, but no good for data. Luckily I have a way to data log on a setup that needs it. This setup should be mild enough it isn't "needed" How many people are running gauges with the TRD?

Same here. Not really safe to be looking down here when you're driving

I would find pillar gauges better than this setup, but would rather have small gauges on the steering column or something like that.

CravenSpeed makes a universal steering column mount called the Belmont, I have one on my Tacoma because I despise pillar mounts. Also the Mudpod thing is nice for the cruiser too but again the mount is a bit low.

Yep, that would be ideal. :D Cool steering wheel. My buddy put a celica wheel in his tundra and it looks super sporty

Sweet wheel, I didn’t think of other years wheels being retrofitted into the LX.

Is it as easy as just the wheel & airbag bolting in, or do you need to retrofit the inner bits too?

More info, model, & year span would be great.

An update would be cool.

I guesstimated the J-pipe should have been done the first week of July (based on Joey’s postings), but sometimes things do get pushed back.

Just an update on progress would be cool to keep interested parties in the know.

I don’t want to sound pushy, just excited & it’s been a month.

Well I know just about every Toyota since 1983 or so has the same spline count for steering wheel. But as you can see this IS300 wheel is on my Tacoma where it plugs into the airbag horn and cruise but that's after I put a clockspring from an 01-04 Tacoma in cause my 96 clockspring had a different airbag plug. Either way I'm sure it would bolt up to the cruiser just fine but the cruiser already has a cruise stalk on the column and mine doesn't have airbags so I couldn't tell ya if that would work.

I'm fixing to have a pillar mount gauge set up in in the next month. A/W Intercooler too and the Genie headers are back from Jet-Hot meow. So so so looking forward to that. Then hopefully meth injection followed by a smaller pulley.

Coming soon. Offered an opportunity and jumped at it. So pushed back production a few weeks.

That PLX gauge looks like a good option for multiple temp sensors.

I agree that the trans tunnel isn't ideal for a gauge that needs frequent monitoring while driving. Not sure how much I'll be watching boost and afr on this mild setup but better to be safe. The temp gauge would be fine down there though since i won't be checking it often, and it has an audible alarm.

Maybe a single gauge for boost and afr on the steering column, a pillar or high on the dash.

I'm leaning towards the Innovate scg1 over the AEM failsafe. It also has wideband O2 and boost. I like that it has an electronic boost pressure sending unit, not routing a direct vacuum line inside to the gauge like the AEM failsafe. It can function as a boost controller too which gives some flexibility for future upgrades.

Just to put this out there. Everyone that is talking about remote boost controllers, boost controlling gauges, etc. Would all be out on there own if they have any problems with the kit. There is zero way any business can have people change the baseline and offer any kind of support. This has been thought out, wasting way too many hours, to get the kit to settings that will be safe and work well with the 80's OBDII computer. ANYTHING above and beyond would be outside the scope of this kit and support.

I have said in the past if you want to upgrade later, I would be open to walking people through the upgrade path, but it would just be two guys bullshitting about cars, it would not be tied to company support.

You introduce boost and the only natural reaction is to turn it up, not sure what you expected there haha
