are those doors and body the same paint as in from the same batch?[/QUOTE]

Yes Sir they are.....the doors just have about 2 months of dust and other residue from the shop on it....it is very difficult keeping stuff from getting dust all over them in this shop....once I get it back to my garage at home it wont be near as bad though.

paint the valve cover while you have it down. That is an easy kitchen project that you can work into your schedule. :)

If im not mistaking the valve cover is raw aluminum with no paint????? correct me if im wrong guys but im pretty sure it was from the factory.

Well it has been a while since an update so let me fill you in on what has been going on with the build. I took a quick trip back home to Montana to a friends wedding this last weekend so I personally was unable to accomplish a ton but Clarence kep busy. He was able to not only finish the hood but the roof as well along with getting the ambulance doors in primer. So here are some pictures of the again the beutiful paint....I wish you guys could see the color in person it looks amazing.

It keeps coming along slowly but surely.

this thing is looking real nice... I cant wait to see it all come back together..

that is the fun part for you anyway!! and you getting closer!!

Just a quick question....Has any body else ever tried or had to put in new window felts on the driver passenger doors???? I got a set of new ones from CCOT and they are a pain to put in and then once they are in the window can not roll up into them....Any tricks or ideas on this one????

Yes, but I used OEM felts and weatherstripping. I have been helping the window up and down for about a year, but it's finally loosening in a little bit. I still haven't fully seated the window in the felt (cranked all the way up), so I'm not sure how to do that. I'm thinking maybe some of that silicone grease...:hhmm:

I just replaced the window seals and felts from CCOT and they were super tight at first. I went back through and spread them out with a wide blade chisel like they say in their installation instructions and, while still tight, they are slowly loosening up after two weeks. I have sprayed some silicon in them and it seems to help some but I think that I'll be fine within a month.
Love that color!

Ya I tried following there directions on the web page but for some reason I couldnt even get the window started into the new felt it was so tight......:hhmm:...so I think I will have to try the new ones that I orderd and just grease the crap out of the felt to install and then while trying to roll the window up as well.

Thomas - I see Clarence's work is up to the usual exceptional quality. Great looking truck parts!

FWIW - I'm growing ever more disappointed in CCoT stuff as I move along thru FJ restorations and am buying more OEM parts. My Olive '78 is about to get new window tracks, and I may switch to the chrome-less '80-'83 style tracks from the dealer.

Nope...I agree with you 100%. It seems that evertime I order something it is either a hasle to get to work or it does not work at all. I just re ordered some new felts to so I will let you know how they work.

looking REALLY good dude. this is an exciting build, I am glad everything is working out. You have electrical wiring issues? HA HA HA.....sorry I couldn't resist. Do you have a wiring diagram for yours? Pretty sure there are diagrams in the tech section to download and print off.

LOL....I know probably nothing compared to yours but yes some issues. Im pretty sure that I have a copy of it does the Hanes manual have it?

Here is a picture of alot of my finsihed parts. Im starting to bring the stuff home to start putting it together.... I was going to bring the cruiser home tomorrow but we are scheduled to get hit with a big snow storm tonight so we will play it by ear.

The Haynes manual has a better wiring diagram than my FSM that was supposed to have been for a '77.

I have found a couple things though, that are different.

Cool thats what I thought as well I just havent had time to go and look through it latley.

yes, but there are a couple key areas that are different. I can't remember Thomas, but are you rewiring the whole thing or do you have a harness to start from?

Yes I do have the original harness to go from.....there are some PO hacks in it but for the most part we should be able to work it out.

Her maiden voyage home.....I loaded it the cruiser up and brought her back to my garage to put it all back together.

A couple things I need some help on as well. I need to know how the factory carb bolted on to the manifold. The PO had put a weber on it so it has an after market adapter on it that does not match up to the factory carb. So Pics will help. I will keep giving updates on what is going on. We are getting closer and closer and im sure I will be asking for alot of help as I do get closer. Thanks again for the help this far.
