Check that out, your starter is on the other side of the engine from mine.

A remote reservoir is what I had to go to. The P-pump is just too big! It has got to be even tougher with the starter on that side taking up space too.

What transmission are you going to be using for yours?

Chevy vs Dodge adapter IIRC. Dodge has the starter on the DS side of the motor, Chevy is PS side.

Thanks for clarifying and putting my mind at ease, I was beginning to second guess my memory. I did make sure all the parts fit before I left the US.

I've got an Advance Adapter Ranger III torque splitter (Overdrive) connected to a Chevy bell housing (To the engine) and then a Toyota H55 transmission on the other side of the Ranger. Love most of it. the only complaint is that the Ranger makes a lot of noise in hi.

This worked initially because the V-8 was shorter than the 2F. I want to say 7 1/2 inches. The Ranger takes up that space and allowed me to keep the transmission in the stock position (foreward to back) and not have firewall issues.

The same has been true with the 4bt, no firewall issues and I had room to do the exhaust the way I wanted.

IIRC=If I Recall Correctly.

Mike, the truck is looking good. Where did you end up sourcing the power-steering pump from?

Got desperate and did ebay.

quick question that's been annoying me. Do these gears spin dry the entire time, or does the front hold lubricant to keep them from overheating?

I should rephrase the above question to, is the lubricant for those gears separate from the engine oil? If so how do you drain it and replace it?

in the pics where i am pointing at the fitting. you can kind of tell what kind of room i don't have for the hose's. so i am going to cut the fitting off and relocate them so i have the room i need. if the started was on the other side it would of made things easyer but oh well. it will get done and work just fine. also with having a remote res. it will make it easy to add fluid if needed.
will get ya'll more pics soon.

Phoenician,
Keep your head down over there. Get home safe to your 62. My brother did 2 tours in Iraq with the Marines (Fallujah 2005 and a country tour in 2003) and my step-brother just finished his second tour in Afghanastan). Enjoying your build.

Phares,

Thanks. I was a Marine in Fallujah during the invasion and retaking of the city. Did two tours as a Marine and now pretty much just a hired gun. Good times, my hat's off to your brothers. I can't wait to come home and drive Big Red.

When I first got the engine one of the things I wanted to do was clean it up and paint it red. But with limited time at home, usually 10 to 14 days, family and other matters took priority. So I finally resigned myself to getting it installed the way it was. In the end I want it to run well. I can live with it if it was dirty but ran well. Well Edwin took it upon himself to clean it up and paint it. I must admit the colors he picked look nice and have grown on me. Let me know what you guys think.

Hmmm...Red truck with a blue engine that has black excessories? I kind of like it.

If that's blue, then I need to get my eyes checked. Looks more like a dark seafoam green to me!
