I wish I were done. But I feel as if I have some more tuning to do. I think I'm a couple bins away from having it correct. I think ther is another 30 hp I have yet to see.

I run 4.56 diffs and 35's.

I think now you have had yours on the dyno, and you well know how quick yours is with 100hp @ the rear you can imagine how 244hp feels :D

But to take nothing away from your efforts this has been a great build thread and far more use to all than mine ever will.

I think between our 2 builds we have pretty much covered what you can do with a 2F-2FE, there is no need to put a V8 in a 40 in my opinion.

Time for one of these

I think what you need is actually a moates APU1 and LC1 WBo2. ;) that will get you drivability.

I just dropped off the 2F to get rebuilt, so I will have a 2F TBI project shortly, which I will be tuning too. Looking forward to getting it dialed in.

Turns out I'm running lean and not rich. I have what is called lean misfires. Basically the mixture is not right to burn so it goes through another cycle where the residual fuel mixes with the new charge and burns causing a rich signal.

Learn something new every day.

If thats the case there will be more ponies available once you fix the issue.

I still think you will end up closer to the 150hp once it's dialed in.

It's a never ending labour of love :D

If you are way out of whack lean or rich the BLM's are going to be pretty useless, since the stock narrow band O2 sensor is not going to be accurate.

Have you tried the 2F_tbi bin that is floating around? I can send you that to try out, as well as one of the others, once I check and see about the timing.

Are you setting base timing on the BB? IE 7 degrees advanced.

Yeah 7 degrees.

Haven't tried the 2f_TBI bin.

Just going with the chips AFI sends me. I've got another round of logs to run this weekend.

Trust me if I had the $350 I'd already be done with this.

Just a note so I don't forget it. These are the TBI fuel adapters to convert the lines to AN 6 fittings.

Now I just need to figure out what degree bends I need to get them back to the fire wall. Was thinking 120 and a 45.

What line are you going with? I was going to eventually go with the Russel twist-lok.

There is no way you just left me out of this equation ... I am in the home stretch on getting mine running on my engine stand. I am a few months though away from sticking a supercharger on it though. I agree there is no need for a V8.

Btw I am running a WBO2 sensor. When I get my numbers you are more than welcome to them.

Send Armuer a PM... I am sure he can draw you up a cheap under 10 dollar circuit that you can build to multiply or divide as you need. Probably could get everything at "The Shack". God I hate advertising dorks.

Trollhole, Hey man! Pretty sweet! I think that I could live without the whole gay thing but if it just means it makes YOU happy, tho be it!:p Have you retuned and redynoed it? I really want to stay with the 2F. Sounds like it's possible to make a decently powerful one. Good work man! Let us know the finals numbers!

I'm somewhat concerned about these Deves rings here Troll.... how bad are those imperfections on the ring side surfaces I have circled in red or is it the camera has them magnified?? and on the oil expander, is one end rounded?? either way on both counts I've never seen such on Deves before..... at this point I would return them and go with the set that came with the pistons.....ITM has been known to include whatever they can get the best deal on at the time on parts (mostly cheap) but what you have there a set of NPR (Nippon) rings, and they are very good also......sorry to butt into your s*** here, but think about it......

Imperfections are just a wax coating holding them together. But I don't like the oil rings they look cheap and poorly made. I'm going to go with the ones that came with the pistons and ditch the swiss made crap.

Go for it... use the ones that give the best fit!... If you'll mail me the unused Deves rings I'd like to send them back to Deves with a detailed description on how they fxxxed this deal up... they need to be made aware of sorts.... I'll pay postage if interested... let me know, I'll pm you my addy.......

Was there ever any more to the story on the Deves rings? Bad set? Bad supplier? Or are they poor product to avoid? I'm looking for a set of rings, and the Deves are attractive for having a 0.25mm oversize that could be filed to fit.

FWIW, Doc, the guy who machines and builds MAFs engines uses Deves rings in them, and in the Hi-Po motors, too. I have them in mine, at .40 over, and so far so good.

But as Jim pointed out in your other thread, Hastings makes very good rings.

Thanks Spike.

Did you have a chance to look over the ones in yours? Are they like those shown here for the oil control? (back on pages 10+11)

The oil control spacer seems kind of crappy to me with the low-angle zig-zag design, rather than having a vertical component to it. Wonder if the rings would work with the stock expander.... :hhmm:

I have no idea what the rings in mine look like, 'cuz I didn't build the motor - the guy above did. But I have the receipt and I believe he listed a part # ... I'll check when I get home and see if it's there. He also does the inventory for MAFs internal engine parts, so I suspect the stuff listed on their site is the same stuff he uses...

It's Martin Davidson Automotive in Reseda, CA (818) 705-2441 He's a really good guy and if you give him a call, I'm sure he'd tell you what he uses and even sell 'em to you, possibly, but he may steer you to MAF on that point...
