Tx. for the info. Don't worry about looking up the receipt, the details of what are on MAF's site and Deves'.

After seeing you put 3fe manifolds on a 2f head, I picked up a set and am going to try and do the same. How much material did you have to remove from the reliefs to match the 2f intake? Could you just have run a 3f carb'd intake?

It is a 3f carb head out of Canada.

 AFAIK, we never got a carbed 3F, or the late 2F that had the world market 3F head with 2F manifolds that went to the states in late FJ60s. I believe we only got diesels in 60s till 88 when we got the 3FE.

2f manifold.

You can just barely see where I took off the material. It's not that much. Best way is to put the manifold on without bolts and see where the manifold is hitting and take a little off. If I remember correctly I took off more than I had too. It's just really the inside corners.

Hey Troll, love the motor and thanks for all of the great pictures and info. I'm thinking of going the FI route on the 85 2F motor I'm getting ready to rebuild and put in my 74 FJ55. Did you look into using a 3F Head and all of the 3F fuel injection stuff? I'm just not sure on the cheapest route and it looks like I could get a decent 3F head and parts for cheaper than the chevy throttle body. I know there may be issues with the mounting brackets for the alt/ ac comp/ ps pump fitting.

Thanks,

Chet

I did look at the 3fe. Actually I have a 3fe head and all the wiring harness. Thinking that was what I wanted to do. But the problem with the 3fe is you cannot program the ECU. Your stuck with stock. And well I like to tinker.

I think you could find a head and all the stuff attached and harness for around $300-$400. It's not the big chunks that kill you. It's the small items that will nickel and dime you to death.

What I really would like to see is if someone would come out with a simple to read wiring diagram for the 3fe. Something that shows what can be cut out and what needs to go where. It cannot be that freeking hard. Would sure help a lot of people looking into doing this mod.

Hey guys,

You guys are way over my head as far as what you have accomplished, so not much room to comment, but I thought that I'd throw this link in, for those interested in using parts from a 3FE: http://bushrat.hdcruisers.org/3FEconversion.pdf

:doh:LOL! Ok. Good to know! You guys are probably all familiar with it then! I couldn't remember where I found it.

We need to get him to finish it because it's by far the best document there is to date on doing the conversion.

does any one know how much i can take off on the head and block on a 1980 2f. by the way love it. the only thing i dont like is when i look throw all the post is seeing gay adds. that what i get for looking it up on google as big gay 2f.

I'm measuring a flange thickness difference of 5mm. Did you have to remove that much off your exhaust manifolds?

Yes. It was quite a bit but the only other option is to have the intake manifold holes filled.

No matter what it is still a solid connection.

Hey sorry to bring this back from the dead but what kind of die grinder bit did you use to grind the flange down on the exhaust manafolds. I have a set that i need to grind down but I dont want to ruin them by using the wrong tool.
