Started to install the boost compensator. Not too bad so far .

Love the color!

we are almost at the same stage.

Didn't update my thread. But I ended up scoring a 1HD-FT and just finished rebuilding it and painting it Toyota Skyblue. Now polishing the other parts then dropping it in my 60.

That red though!!

Hey mate, i am new to this forum but i have read all of your thread on putting the 1hz into the 60 and im from Sydney Australia and i have been looking into doing a 1hz swap into a 60 series and i have a few questions id like to ask if you could help me out? 1. with the engine mounts you bought to weld to the chassis and that bolt to the 1hz who did you contact and get them from? 2. what bell housing did you use that bolts from the 1hz block to the h55 3. What clutch plate, pressure plate and fly wheel did you use and 4. Did you have to change the input shaft of the transmission on the h55 to make it fit onto the 1hz with the bell housing you used or is there a bell housing you can use that bolts the h55 straight to the 1hz and not have to touch the transmission at all?. Thanks in advance i am new to this page and i am loving the build your doing my dream build so keep it up and hopefully when you have finished i will be able to follow in your foot steps and 1hz swap a 60 series! Cheers Alec

so does the h55 bell housing bolt up to the 1hz and you dont need to change the input shaft just put a heavy duty clutch in it to hold the power different from the 3f to the 1hz? or you dont know what bell housing is used to bolt the h55 to the 1hz and what different input shaft has to be put in beauces you bought the package complete and already done? Cheers Alec

Sorry about the multiple hits. Had an error glitch when I tried to post.

The 4BT has a very narrow performance band, but can provide a ton of torque. The 1HZ is a higher reving engine that is also indirectly injected versus the 4BT's direct injection. The biggest positive (to me) is that the 1HZ is really smooth and quiet. I've owned two 4BT powered cruisers and really love them, but they're not for everyone.

Sorry for the no updates. Been busy with schoolwork, house projects and work.

Recently, I've been reading up on how people like the stock CT26 1HD-T turbo on an 1HZ. I keep hearing that you need to really increase the fuel to get it up to boost. And some have mentioned excessive heat because of it. I've read a couple of guys running the Garrett disco potato GT2860RS ( @gifu ) and get boost around 1000 RPM with no excessively high EGT's. I need to do some more research. I hate to put the motor in and then decide to swap the turbo out. I'm looking for boost early in the RPM range a

Threads: BJ74 LHD 1HZ+T build

I know the Gturbo route is probably the path of least resistance, but I can't get an idea on how much they cost. The Garretts can be found all over the place from new to used.

Found this quote from Graeme of Gturbo fame.

"If on budget, can't use a Gturbo etc, hunt around and try find a GT2560 with 44.5mm inducer 0.46 A/R housing, run it at 14psi, 20:1

Now no one can say I didnt help :)

Just don't go for a big lazy thing meant to go on a heavily boosted engine thats 50% bigger.

Enjoy

Cheers, G"
