I think he meant the new owner of the 77. I'm not sure he is on mud, but I couldn't of done 10% of what I did on this rig with out the help of this forum. My wife used to get so mad from me running back and forth from the garage to the home computer. In hindsight I should of just put a computer in the garage;)

I'm considering a decent size laptop and using my wifi for that exact reason - getting to old to run in and out looking at this electronic source of info . Gave up on printing - it's cheaper to buy manuals and such but no luck for a MUD manual yet ...?

I have to say - it came out great and hats off to being able to watch it go away , not sure I could do that myself ..

I plug my laptop into the secondhand 42" flat screen TV mounted on the wall...Unintentional hijack...One of my favorite threads!!

At this point , no garage and my shop is in the basement - 1300lb lathe and 2-stage compressor , 1100lb welding table and all....ugh . All my work is outside , so it's either up a flight of stairs to check out the computer , or down a flight to the shop . Pain in my old , tired butt for sure . We're trying to find a place , but not having a lot of luck in a small town . I have 3 main tool boxes and several large walls dedicated to all the extra stuff needed for fab and repair work on just about anything Man has ever built - looks like a disaster but it works for now . It would take a year to move all of it even with help , and about as long to organize it all again somewhere else - not looking forward to that part for sure .

It would be great if the new owner showed up here , if nothing else just to show us what the rig is up to in the future . I know a lot of folks lent a hand with the build and we all enjoyed keeping tabs on the progress . Nice if we were included in the next chapter of it's life .

Hi

I'm the "new guy". I kind of try to fly low, so I doubt I will post much here. But I do want to say a few things.

First, this guy SSCR is pretty incredible. Aside from an amazing build, this guy communicates like no one I've ever met. Questions, even after the sale, answered within minutes. I'm not sure what kind of work you do SSCR, but I can guarantee that if you took on re-builds as a job you'd kill it. You did a great job, you were beyond transparent with everything, you've been extraordinarily helpful, and I hope your next build you make twice the money. You deserve it.

Second, I really appreciate this site. You guys are great, and the info I've gathered from here is amazing.

The kids thought the combination of military-type look along with the dark yellow color made Colonel Mustard the right name. So Colonel Mustard sits in the third bay for now.

I will say that my only complaint is that this is such beautiful build, I'm somewhat afraid to drive it. I keep seeing these valuations online, and while I have absolutely no intention of selling, I don't want to hurt what is really a piece of art. So once I get over that, I'll be able to have more fun with it.

I've included a picture of the Colonel's new home.

Thanks again everyone.

Pardon my ignorance, but what the hell is that thing in the middle bay?

Yes, G wagon.

I think the FJ makes everything else look short and squat in comparison. But it's usually a pretty tall car.

Thanks Aquatiger, Colonel Mustard could not gone to a better home! You have an awesome fleet in that garage, hell I love your garage! You have Germany, United Kingdom, and Toyota represented there. All you need is a heep and Ducati and you have the Axis and Allies of WWII!

Drive it, wheel it. It's what they're meant for. To not would be sacrilege.

Cool of you to post up some pics of a rig I have followed for weeks at a time.....SSCR helped me so much!!!!!! Looks like it has found a super home......exceptional rig!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

Just wanted to give a quick update. I finally, just today, got this FJ inspected and registered. The State of NJ was very helpful, as was SSCR (as always), but the emissions computer kept asking for verification of a catalytic converter, which this vehicle doesnt have. I'm posting the information the state gave me here in case anyone else has trouble. It's from the Emissions Control Systems Application Guide.

Despite having all this info, the emissions center interaction would invariably go like this:

Them: "We can't find the cat."
Me: "It didnt come with one. Here is all the paperwork from the state saying it is exempt."
Them: "But the computer says it has a cat."
Me: "Yes, I know that's a stumbling point. But here is the letter from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and all the information you need. They even said they called the manager here to let him know."
Them: "Yeah, but the computer says...."

Today, however, was different.
